Hi my name is Izzy i'm 56 and addicted to gambling

I joined here last year went 7wks gambling free but once my family had seemed to forgive me I was back on the slots, I managed to hide it for so long but got caught out at least 4/5 times since, anyway I really want to stop Ive put my family through enough I've all but destroyed my partner financally and no trust in me, we were so happy before this took hold of me ,every month I get paid I say the same thing i'm not living like this, in debt no money after 2 days of being paid but I always fail .... Well i've had my wages to be paid in to my partners bank from my next payday so he will just put in my bank enough to cover my direct debits I have self excluded myself from as many sites that I can think of , but this depression won't lift off me I feel very lonely and lost and I hate the feeling any help and advice would be grateful .

thank you

Izzy

Hi Izzy,

You're in the right place. I had similar feelings when I finally admitted to my family about my addiction but it does get better.

Be completely honest with you partner from now on your feelings in particular and ask them to do the same. It's also a journey they're on now.

Use the free counselling sessions and or GA meets. There's lots of success stories on here I used them to fuel and see the proof that we can create a better life for ourselves.

All the best

Great advice I used is to use a bar code from something as the password then chuck the barcode away or burn it! That way you have no chance of remebering it or guessing it or getting it back! Hope this helps! Welcome back c

Hi izzy don't be afraid to go to gp if you are feeling depressed. My cg did, gp was great. Gambling is masking everyday mood changes etc. Good luck!
