Hi all, Not sure what day I am at now, regardless checking in anyway around 140 days or something like that đŸ™‚
First of all, thanks Mr B for a couple a great motivational posts and for extending check-in, as it is generally a busy week for most.
However I do think personally that the extended check-in should be only happen on the odd rare occasion, as it only takes 2 minutes a week to drop us a quick post to say your checking in. Compared to the amount of time Mr B must puts into this challenge every single week without fail, 2 minutes a week is nothing. 2 minutes when we were gambling was just another trip to the cash machine...
We may have lacked activity on this thread for a couple of weeks, but that does not concern me. I have seen numerous soldiers posting all over this forum handing out advice, encouragement and congratulations, so I applaud all of you for that đŸ™‚
There seems to be alot going on in the gambling world right now, with Cheltenham, The grand National and Bank holiday weekend just passing and an exiting conclusion in the world of football, however, if we get through this its only going to be easier next year!
Thats all for now,
Best wishes,
Scambling
Hey gang,
Checking in on day 22 - Things are going well in the realms of gambling, not had an urge for a while despite a lot of football and horse racing recently.
I've realised its usually these two that bring me back into the world of gambling and all the additional gambling (FOBT's, Dogs, Virtual's, etc) only happen when i'm chasing losses from the first two sports.
So staying away from horse racing and football is paramount for my recovery. Thankfully a lot of the big horse racing meetings have passed already and with the football its really just the world cup that could be a test.
But i've got my guard up, got my barriers in place, have armed myself with support around me and knowledge of weaknesses is firmly in my head.
Keep on going comrades, it is the most important thing we have to do in our life for the future.

Hi again to all of you,
Day 21 today and feeling good just finished work and at my second home now what I call it and having a well deserved brew (I think lol) and reading through the forum I'm amazed of all your posts.
Yes it is refreshing reading about success, but reading a post about a laps is as important it keeps me focused but also shows me that who ever it is who lapsed, with posting here you might have had a weak moment where the addiction could tricks you but you found your way back on the right path and this is all what's count.
Would like to say thank you to you all for being here on the road to peaceful life with me.
With love and respect
Wolfgang
Hi guys
Just saying hello things going ok -had to focus a bit today had odd little thoughts but I've stayed strong..
I can fully appreciate why people can go back.. Just one small lapse.. Boredom is also a key factor(L.G sorry to quote) Boredom was my biggest issue, that spare time makes it too easy to fall into the trap...with help and advice from the people here help is on hand - check in every day it works wonders- every day is a win- every week is better - every month is brilliant
Keep well my friends- keep strong and keep focused
Glads dad
Sorry posted same comments twice
:-}
Evening everyone,
So we're less than half way through the "check in" week and we're well over half way through the number of checks ins required to give us our first ever 100% retention week - statistically it's the best ever start to a week we've ever had!!! We really need to keep this going...........so really well done to everyone who's checked in so far.........and Scambling, you are spot on mate, a 2 minute "job" once a week to celebrate your ongoing recovery isn't a lot to ask........so everyone else, please get your posts made and your updates done........we could be heading towards a super week!!
LG - delighted you've posted.......incredibly brave and so good that you've learned from last week. Keep the guard up girl.....and if you can drop a quick post with a new clean days number I'll get things updated for Sunday - you'll be hitting much bigger numbers than ever soon.......I'm super confident of that.
There are some big names missing that have been for a while.......or not posting as often as normal.......some of whom are definitely having a tough time and I'm sure could do with some group words of encouragement.......
bornagain, 2012theyear(Craig), The_Rock, lec101 (Lou).......all of you over 100 days and doing superbly well..........and the originals of the group. You've been with me my whole journey and I really hope you are all ok?
I'm conscious I missed updating on milestones and I kinda regret not putting that in on Sunday........I've already missed one this week - baggins.......congrats on the 50 days yesterday.......what a sensational addition you are to this group and the forum!! Lotsa fortune will also hit 50 days towards the end of Horne week and Batman will hit 10 weeks too!! Well done guys - victories all around!!!
Front page is updated - give the non checks ins a nudge if you see them around!!
Will try to keep the nightly updates going......!!
Mr B
Hi everyone, feelin more upbeat about life at moment (maybe that's due to no gambling), certainly this challenge started by mr Brightside has helped (and his positive posts are a tremendous source of inspiration - thank-you)
So here I am checking in early I hope, here's to a happy rest of the week (gamble free)
Just quickly catching up on any posts for today and would publicly like to apologise to Lostafortune - classic autocorrect going on there.......the name is one thing, but I really don't know what a "Horne" week is!!!!! If anyone knows then can you let me know......sounds kinda fun đŸ™‚
Mr B!!!
Hi all, just checking in, still gamble free and feeling really positive at the moment đŸ™‚
Stay strong everyone!

Joanna
Good morning people,
Checking in on day 23 feeling good.
Got my tax refund for 2013/14 yesterday.
Was impressed that it got through so quick.
And not that I feel any weakness at the moment but still let the money going straight in the saving account.
No more hiding, no more lying and no more secrete money !
Feeling good đŸ™‚
Tried to figure the "HORNE week" thing out, but sorry Mr.B I have to pass on this one.
And now Joanna even topped it with "is beyond my Ken" ???
Getting slightly confused here, but ok I'm not 60 yet lol.
A good and sunny day to you all
Wolfgang
Hi Wolfgang - OK, time for an explanation of the 'Horne' reference: Kenneth Horne was a famous comedian/actor in the 1940, 50s and 60s, mostly on BBC Radio. In the 1960s he featured in a couple of series of comedy shows, namely 'Round the Horne' and 'Beyond Our Ken' (Ken being short for Kenneth and also 'ken' means 'knowledge', hence the saying 'It's beyond my ken' = I have no knowledge of...
For younger readers, the two shows mentioned above also featured Kenneth Williams of the 'Carry On' films fame as well as several other well-known comedy actors.
Hope that explains all!
Mr. B - many thanks for your kind words.
Joanna
