Hi I am a CG my main problems have been FOBT, horses and the casino, I have gambled for the past 15 years but it has really escalated over the last 2. Last year I sought some help for the first time, and managed to go 4 months without a gamble, but in my first bet I won nearly 3k and the old habits came back 10 fold.

Since then I have struggled to kick the addiction again but last night I spent a couple of hours on the forum and got inspired to start again, I am 1 day in and paid yesterday's winnings into the bank which was a good first step.

I've started a diary and am naturally competitive so this competition will help me. Any help and advice gladly received as it is time to enjoy life and finally be able to live life to the full.

Day 2 for me after a drunken relapse night at the casino Saturday I'm around £1500 in debt and have effectively blown my entire tax rebate that hasn't even hit my bank account yet and was ment to be spent on clearing my credit card and re carpeting my gfs flat. I'll also now basically be working over a month for nothing. This has to stop now! Or its going to be the end of me.

Checking in good and early this week. Still not even thinking about slots online, in pubs or the bookies but dreamt I was in casino playing away and losing my money thinking how am I going to explain this? Then putting more money in! The saddest thing about this is how ridiculous that seems but that's exactly what I used to do, worry about how much I had lost and keep going. It all just seems so crazy to me now.

Sorry to read about your slip Phil but don't be too down, you're a great person and you will get there in the end. Thanks for all your efforts and sorry again for being late last week.

Simon.

Making a point to come check in early this week 🙂 another week is here and challenge to stay gamble free us accepted again. My life music is so high ATM that the thought doesn't even enter my mind anymore. I even watched sone horse racing on the tv last weekend and didn't have an urge to bet at all. I actually joked with myself as the old me would have lost his money on all the favourites who were been beat.

best of luck to everyone this week especially you phil, I know you will overcome this latest slip and in the months to come will realise it was just another speed bump in the long road that is your life's journey 🙂

Checking in on day 60! 2 months gamble free today, feels great! Sorry I never checked in earlier, but good news is I am still gamble free. Even held off buying a lotto ticket, I told my wife that if she wants one she has to do it because I am gamble free.

Keep it up everyone

Checking in today on what I think is day 124 (but you may be keeping better records than me Phil). Rarely think about gambling now although did acknowledge a few bets I would definitely have lost over the last week. Sometimes I think I miss bits of it but realised I actually just miss the situation I was in - young with money and not a care in the world!! Alas we can't just go and be 23 again!

someone said last week they thought it was unfair that people who slipped got more support on here. I couldn't disagree more. The point of this challenge is to provide a group to support those struggling the most! Those of us who are doing well and haven't had lapses get a weekly pat on the back in phils update with the milestones and day counts - that's more than enough praise and support for me!! (Thanks again for your effort Phil)

almost 1/3 through 2015 everyone, congratulations and for those struggling, remember triangles chat room, or the email address or get in touch with fellow soldiers.

Day 3. Still beating myself up over the loss at the casino Saturday and the fact my tax rebate hasn't even been issued by hmrc yet! Hopefully tomorrows wages will get me just out of my overdraft and I'd won't have to worry about the £5 daily charge I'm currently getting.

Early check in this week. 117 days done but feeling the urges strong this past week. Managing (just) to avoid temptation. I need to fully reinstate the triangle and get my friend to enter a password on my k9 gambling blocking software.

Tonight I will do it. Then temptation should lessen.

Stay safe all !

minksy89 welcome to the challenge, you have been added and checked into the front page, don't let your money worries make you chase one last big win as a way out. It won't work, we can't win because we can't stop! Things might be hard now but day by day gamble free your money worries will become more manageable!

boxingday1 maybe you need to get back to how you where in the early days of recovery, as I too seem to struggle once I pass 100 days. Don't give in to the urges and be extra vigilant. The friend entering a password is a brilliant idea, get it done asap!

Great to hear what brilliant progress you are making gingermotty I really enjoyed reading your post, really positive stuff well done!

And now I'm off to bed, life music has been high today as I have been to Alton Towers in the sun, not had to queue for any rides and had a fab day! Stay strong troops!!!

Checking in 124 days gamble free. I struggled so badly during the initial process of abstinence. It took a fellow GA member to recognise this and put his hand on my shoulder and offer help. I've found the best way to deal with this is listen to people and take on board every last piece of guidance that can be offered. I agree ginger motty those early in this process and those that have broken will need more help and encouragement than those keeping on a good path. We are all in this together and it is great to see the support we can offer each other when things aren't going right.
