Evening troops. Took it upon myself to do the roll of honour/ days count as I feel this checking in once a week is playing a role in my recovery. It's motivating to see the days mount up and gives a reason to visit the site each week. I am sorry to hear what's gone on this week with Phil etc and thank him for his time and efforts running this for the past six months.
Congratulations to all who have hit personal milestones this week. I was pleased with my half century mid week !
Well done lollypoplol on 300 days!! Better life, SonicBoom, pellekanin, Gingermotty and mac09 join the double century club this week ! (Is that the correct name) Huge achievement anyway. Well done to you all.
Also special mention to SierraJuliet, Matty21 and paul1001 who will all join the century club this week. Keep up the fantastic efforts !!!
Hope I got everyone's days correct and didn't miss anyone out.
Have a great gamble free week troops.

Clare, thank you so much for doing the roll call, it was so lovely of you and congratulations on 52 days! I agree that checking in every week helps us massively in our battle to stay gamble free and really hope that we can all continue to encourage each other. Have a good week troops x
Shame to read the last few pages of posts, i've thought about this challenge alot over the past week or so when somoene in the chat mentioned i should take a look at it, i've worked a 70 hour week so just havn't had the time to post, was looking forward to seeing my counter go up and enjoyed reading all your stories and some inspirational words from certain people, Phil seemed like a great guy i hope he finds it within himself to return and keep everyone going and saving, if i could help just one person younger than me (im 25) and keep them from starting gambling or placing that first downhill bet then that would be enough for me, let alone what some of you have done on here in keeping people away from it. I am currently 7 days gamble free, and for once in my life i have stopped gambling after winning abit of my own money back instead of falling further into the abyss, usually i gamble until im staring at the wall asking myself how im going to get up for work or what excuses im going to make for not having the money for this or that, i have a long way to go, i reckon if i can not place a bet for the next 100 days minimum then i can start to turn my life around. I have no gambling blocks in place except deposit limits and a few self exclusions, i feel like if i really wanted a bet that much i could find a way, with K9 or without. I need to learn the hard way, i cant have K9 helping me if im out with friends and they suggest going to the casino, i will have to not go in or take my free soft drink and watch them, thats how its going to be, the money i earn is too hard earned to hand over like monopoly money now. If i need to post again i will, if the challenge falls in the next week then hopefully a new topic will emerge that we can follow, failing that i hope everyone finds peace with themselves, does what makes them happy and makes someone who means alot to them happy aswell. All the best for a new week guys, a new start for some of us.
one life, LIVE IT
Well done boxingdaysmay15! Superstar 🙂
Just like to thank Claire for the update 🙂
I never check in so early but might as well seein as im here.. 194 days.
Back to work for me after a relaxing week off last week. A week off in the past would have resulted in numerous ups and downs and 9 times out of 10 more debts. But not this past week... I have zero interest in wanting to win money, I would rather keep my own hard earned money. It would be lovely if we lived in a Country that had that mindset.. unfortunately we dont.. Its amazing how many adverts are allowed to be shown. Its sad that these channels are happy to show them all really. Why cant someone in charge say nope we're not playing barbara windsor 15 times a bloody day!!
Anyway im ranting now....
I hope this thread continues, if Claires update was a one off im willing to do next weeks update. Maybe we can have one volenteer a week??
Nice one Claire very good of you to do the update. I hope this thread can continue but what will be will be. Insanity checking in for another week.
Morning fellow troopers!
I am glad that we are feeling strength in numbers and people find it helpful to see the days on the short update I added last night.
Challenge 2015 may just help a few to stay on track and give people a reason to still update and see/show their progress within the team. Some people have worked very hard this year and it would be a shame for the challenge to fizzle out. I don't have the time to do the big updates Phil did and welcome newbies/ regular comments through the week so wouldn't like to say I'll run the challenge at this stage as I wouldn't do it justice. Of course if anyone would like to take the responsibility it's a role that's available to any fellow soldier. In the meantime I'll try to find the time to update the day count each week as it's good to keep this thing going I think 🙂 Sonic Boom you could do the days when I'm on holiday in a couple of weeks ? (23rd July).

Thank you Clare. Always nice to see the days adding up
Best wishes
Thanks for doing the update Claire, You are the roll of honour this week 🙂
Suzanne xx
Hi Clare, thanks for the update !, checking in Day 7 ! sounds pathetic but it's the longest time I've gone in years, and not only just managed the 7 days but have done it with so much ease, I highly recommended a book, Allen Carr - How to stop gambling. Rather than the willpower method and feeling deprived from gambling and a battle it's totally different approach all mind over matter. We are not missing anything we are not deprived we've all chosen a better life 🙂 Not the slightest urge, the weekend passed and no Saturday ritual of waking up early to study all the potential bets, a lovely lie-in and productive day. Good luck troops stay strong, can't wait for the big milestones to come !!!! have a good week everyone
Checking in on day 402 keep up the good foght everybody
Day 389 checking in. Thanks to Clare for the tally count. All good wishes to Phil & thanks for all your hard work for the last 6 mths. Suzy
Checking in day 78 GF. I too have been saddened over the past week to see Phil and others leave but completely understand, it is their recovery and they need to find their own path.
Clare thanks for doing the update, you are a star, also congrats on staying GF, I remember commenting on your diary in the early days of my recovery.keep fighting 🙂
Hi, missed the roll call last week cos of all the mayhem, wSnt sure if people would keep going, slightly worried by the attitude of admin. But I'm happy to check in anyway, 29 days Gf - chuffed, keep going all
Evening all.
Checking in, day 53 for me. Busy day at work and no thoughts of gambling. Even in the evenings now gambling is the last thought on my mind as a way to relax. I hated the person I became when gambling excessively last year and now I've no desire to be that person again. I read the Alan Carr book when I stopped smoking and I liked the principles in that book so I can imagine the stop gambling one is equally useful Gerry8. Well done on a week of stopping gambling. In the early days a week is a massive deal and a very big achievement. When I first stopped (Boxing Day 2014) gambling was all I could think about and I was delighted to make my first week. Now, it's about me beating my previous attempt to quit (120 days) and next week I'll be half way there. Amazing how the days do add up ... time flies as they say.
