CHECKING IN ON 10 DAYS GAMBLE FREE. Last tuesday i lost 250 quid and i just said no more, i am not going to fund the running of parasitic bookmakers. I earn this money so why should i throw it away and get nothing in return but emotional pain. I know i am going to have tests, ie the football season starts soon and wanted to ask can we gamblers gamble on one type of thing and avoid what has been our problem, for me it is fobt nachines only, so can i trust myself to just play football bets as i have never had a problem with that. Advice please.

No problem. Its a bit like asking can an alcoholic still have scotch if their problem was Gin. Only you will know if you can do this. Would I? Not anymore but i understand the desire to keep finding a way to gamble.

Welcome to our new members, Emily82 and Tomgrogan95. The first week can be the toughest and you both have support around you in terms of families. Try to relinquish control of all finances for a while if you can and use those around you to help you as much as possible. We wish you well.

Excellent week on the forum and I'd like to say thanks to those who've stepped in to help welcome new members or just show a little support for a fellow member. Casey, Dazz1982, Happydays and Triangle have been great this week offering support on the forum and I'm sure it's very welcome and useful advice to members.

A few mentions this week ....

Suzylemon hit 400 days and what a phenomenal achievement, it is nice to see fellow members on such huge days, proof it can be done.

Insanity, Sonic Boom & Jm24 have joined the double century club, massive well done!!

TheGerman hit three weeks and is actively using the forum to help him in this, well done to you.

Gerry8 & Toonarmy reached two weeks and this is Gerry8's best effort in years. All the more reason to carry it on and from personal experience, it does get easier. Sure, the urges don't go away and I'm sure we all feel them in different ways... But we must all find our own coping mechanisms. Mine is blocking software and distraction .. using an online auction website to take my mind off gambling. I love finding bargains on there ... and I can manage to keep spending within my weekly budget too !

GT and No Problem both achieved one week and I know how difficult it is when the urges are strong in the early days after gambling. Well done both of you.

Hope I haven't missed anyone this week ! If I have, I apologise and just post on my diary I'll quickly rectify. I've done the update on my mobile phone and with the tiny screen etc it can be difficult to check through but hoping I've not missed anyone / anything.

I will be off to Majorca tomorrow so I'm checking in now for next week and appreciate Sonic Boom offering to step in this week and do next Sundays update. Thank you Mark.

Wish each and every one of you a successful gamble free week !

Boxingdaysmay15 jetting off on holiday !
