I dont know if their is a different challenge i could take up. I will explain. its is now 33 days since i last played a FOBT machine, the only gambling i have or ever had a problem with. I have lost lots in thos machines but never on football or racing etc, that is purley for fun and i stick to a limt, what im saying is i have gambled on football, so i dont know whether i can stay on this challenge as a non fobt challenge. Advice please.

Day 253
Honestly thought I had checked in last week so apologies that I didn't.
Life is busy and my mind is full of many things, but pleased to say gambling is not one of them this week.

Checking in on day 113, unlucky for some, not for me.

Welcome to TheGhost your story sounds just like mine although mine is probably into the 6 figures, but that is the past, I'm focusing on the future and building my gamble free house brick by brick, each day is a success whether day 1 or 1000.

Sad to hear of your minor blip sonic Boom but great see you back acknowledging it as just that, it took me 8 months on my last relapse so credit to you.

No problem I'm of the opinion that gambling includes all forms of gambling not just FOBT's, if you are betting it could lead you back to them awful machines. But your journey is your own, you have to figure things out your way, my path is fully gamble free as I have tried others to no avail it has sucked me back in full throttle.

Keep fighting all. Today is a good day, today is gamble free day.

Thanks for your words of support - clare, mike and dazz. Means a lot.

Noproblem - Ultimately this is your recovery and I wish you well. I was where you are back in may of last year. Only saw a problem with fobt betting and just wanted to stop playing those and continue sport betting. I found very little support on here to that 'plan'. I have to admit it really wasnt the best approach. Im afraid ypur going to find yourself either losing money and wanting a 'quick fix' to get it back (whats quicker than a 20 second spin on the roulette) or winning money and then feeling invinceable.

Whilst your actively gambling its going to be extreamely difficult for you to keep away from the fobts.

No problem - have you thought about what happens if you win big at the horses, football acculimators etc? Will it go safely into the bank?

I only ask this as last year when I was 4 months gamble free I spoke to my bro and put on a 6 fold horse accumulator and won 3k, needless to say this led to an 8 month gambling relapse which meant at the end of it I was 15k down. Don't tread the same path I did.

Thanks for the response folks. Day 34 without playing fobt's. As i said i am fully aware of the temptation to play them by playing footy bets and horses etc. I was stood in the bookies the other day feeling like a preacher wanting to tell the folks playing them what fools they were being. Think of how long it takes to earn twenty quid at work and how fast it can be wasted in those machines. I need to stay focused, i dont know if i should be in this challenge as i have gambled and it seems wrong, but it is an achievment for me to stay away from fobt's.

Good morning everyone,

Checking in to report a gamble free week. No urges or thoughts to place a bet which is what I want.

Off for a weeks holiday in Cornwall tomorrow so hopefully the weather may improve.

Keep strong folks.

Have a lovely holiday Mike. Hope the sun shines !

Checking in 91 days today. I've been feeling a few urges this week but some lovely posts on my diary and taking the time to remember how bad my situation was last year has convinced me not to wobble off the gamble free path.

Today I will not gamble.

We cannot win as we cannot stop and we will always lose.

I always remind myself there's no success stories to read of. How many people can tell you they've always been into gambling and how profitable it's been in the long term !?

I certainly don't know a single person who has claimed to make money from gambling in the longer term.

Would I part with hard earned cash if I knew that I'd never win ?

Well... I used to ! Not any more.

Keep strong everyone.

Clare
