I used to have a Monzo account but i closed it and I cannot open it again. Is there another similar one (not Starling) that limits spending. Monzo were good at limiting spending on debit cards . Starling offers this however i can easily unlock it which is not helpful. I also want a bank to stop gambling transactions. Thanks

Have you contacted monzo to see if you could access another account that sounds the best option

I have starling but i respect why you dont want that one

The only other online back ive heard of us revolut and they can block gambling transactions i believe. But i have never had an account so i dont know how reliable/safe they are so please fully research if you decide to look.

Dear @poblwc,

most high-street banks offer gambling merchant blocks now, here is a list of the ones that do:

https://www.gamcare.org.uk/self-help/money-management/#banks

Natwest also has a 48hour cool-off period to remove the block, so maybe they are the best option. When you open the account you could also explain that you are in recovery and if there is a way to make a note of this on your account.

All the best,

Eva

First direct gives you the option to ban gambling too (will be same as HSBC as they are the same)
