Today is day 59 since I managed to stop gambling.

Frustratingly, I've found the stopping fairly easy and don't know why I waited so long to do so. I signed up to Gamstop and haven't even had an urge to bet again. The thought of losing more money makes me feel ill.

The problem I have now is the debt I've amassed.

The last two months I've paid back what I can but it's not sustainable and the dent I've made in the debt seems insignificant. I'd taken credit card money transfers to gamble at 0% interest but when the offers run out I'm going to be looking at almost £1k a month just in interest.

I know it's all my fault and these are the consequences of my actions only, I just can't see a way out of this debt.

Has anyone had any joy dealing with creditors directly? I think I have a claim for unaffordable lending against one credit card company as they gave me extra credit when I was in my worst place. All that will do if upheld is save on some interest which I'm not paying yet as still in the 0% time period.

I now feel as down and distracted by the debt as I did by constant gambling.

Speak directly to each individual debtor and explain you can only pay a minimum payment ! As long as you are up to date with all tax, council tax , utilities ultimately there is nothing they can do !

I would definitely speak to Stepchange debt charity, they can help with setting up a plan. Some creditors will freeze interest as well whilst paying through Stepchange.

Recommend you visit the Debt Free Wannabe board on moneysavingexpert dot com. They are experts there in helping people deal with exactly the situation you're in (/we're in) and quite a few people turn up there having had gambling problems and now having to clear up the aftermath. You won't be alone.

Hello, not sure I am in the right group but recently I have had to Self Exclude myself from a specific site , I took advantage of this after self excluding across the board via GamStop but this sitee has let me still gamble since shrtly after taking those intial steps and I have, as a result lost thousands of pounds again, I know I chose to still gamble but is there anyway I can seek some compensation as they allowed me to still gamble where all other sites dont to try and recoup any of the money
