Thank you for those kind words Debsy.Â
Â
Hello Diary.Â
Was just reading a post by Charlieboy in which she wrote:
"Effect that change in ourselves so we may live our lives differently."
Totally agree with the above but confused as to what changes I should be making in my life.Â
Recovery from gambling addiction is also a journey of discovery in my opinion and hopefully will be a meaningful adventure.Â
Some days I feel optimistic and on others full of doubts and misgivings but will slowly get there so long as I remain gamble-free.
Â
Aum
Â
Beauty in the air ? here in sunny HullÂ
"Hello" I sing to a passing cloud with smiles for a squawking gull
Such splendour and serenity is surely a taste of heaven
Gamble-free is magical on day two thirty seven
Â
Aum
Well done and  enjoy the sunshine my friend  Â
   Scotty??Â
As always, your posts make me think Stephen 🙂
We are allowed to feel ups and downs, that is human and natural but without gambling those ups and downs are not so dramatic and synthetic.  With gambling, the ups are artificial (buoyed by a "win" - in quotes because we *never* win, we *always* give it back, and more) and the lows can take us to the gates of hell itself. Not a place to be.
This means that, yes, we will have misgivings but we also thank our lucky starts that we've decided not to compound them with this destructive addiction. Misgivings turn into relief turn into gratitude for real life as we meant to live it 🙂
Â
Having a smashing weekend Stephen 🙂
Â
Â
Many thanks Scotty & Roch. I appreciate your visiting my diary and hope you are both having a good day.Â
Â
Hello Diary.Â
Worry used to weigh me down
A most unwanted weight
But now this dude is gamble-freeÂ
On day two thirty eightÂ
Â
Aum
Cool, calm and collected.Â
Â
Today is a significant one in more ways than one Stephen; 238 days for you, and an opportunity to remember No 238 Squadron (RAF) who flew, in exemplary fashion along with other squadrons, as part of the Battle of Britain, and more campaigns besides, in WW2.
The relevance? The simple premise that when we are in recovery, we open our minds to so much more. How else would I have chanced upon No 238 Squadron and read about their fascinating, sterling work?
So thank you Stephen and wishing you a superb start to the week!
Â
Â
Thankyou for that wonderful post Roch.Â
I have just been learning about 238 Squadron and the heroic deeds of the pilots. A fascinating read.
War is a terrible thing which causes great misery but the courage, bravery and ingenuity of certain individuals amounts to heroism and is deserving of respect and gratitude.
Â
Hello Diary.Â
Thirty years alcohol-free so I will drink no wineÂ
But smiling now with a cup of tea
On day two thirty nine.
Â
Aum ?
Aum is a man on a mission
Past forty not naughty or haughty
Relaxed reformed & ready to rock
On gamble-free day two forty
Â
Aum ?
Cast aside all bitterness
No shame remorse or regret
241 days with ne'r a bet
Worry free and clear of debt
Â
Fist raised to the heavens
Singing a victory song
Standing proud & resolute
In sandals vest and a thong
Â
It's time to Rock n Roll
Aum ?
On a gamcare hillsideÂ
Peaceful and serene
Two four two days travellingÂ
Midst pastures lush and green
Â
Gazing towards the mountain top
I marvel at the view
Self assured and able now
To do what I must do.Â
Â
Aum ?
Â
You sonnets paint a very relaxing picture Stephen 🙂
And we have something in common today - 67%.
We are both two-thirds of the way to meaningful targets. You are 2/3rd of the way exactly on the way to a year gambling free, and at 67 today I am two thirds of the way to 100 days.
I like the synergy and wish you an enjoyable weekend Stephen 🙂

I completely missed the fact that 242 days =2/3rd of a year so many thanks for pointing that out.Â
Wishing your good self and all gamcare friends a gamble free weekend of contentment.
Â

Â
Good morning Diary ?
Â
Sunny Sunday morning
Spring is in the air
Hull looks simply wonderfulÂ
With beauty everywhere
Â
244 days gamble free
Feeling gratitudeÂ
Money in my pocketÂ
And fridge containing food
Â
Soon will walk to the riverside
Feed the ducks en route
Life for them is a challenge
But they paddle and look very cute.Â
Â
