So thought id put another entry into here as feeling reflective.
Â
All in all my recovery is still going very very well....... apart from a minor blip over christmas wanting to play poker where i mistakenly went in a bookies with a friend to watch them play slots (with them winning a lot)..... ive relaised again why going in bookies with them is a big mistake..... wont go in again...... but thankfully got thru it unscathed.... i feel im on such a long non gambling run it would take some major thing happening in my life to see it as a outlet towards a release of somekind.
Â
Â
So for for the first 21 days of this years objectives everything going great..... ive not partaken in any vices, ive not spent a penny on gaming and ive eaten well , exercised but not over the top exercise...... ive done between 70-80k steps a week...... Ive bought good quality meat and fruit, ive eaten some of my sweets i got as presents but not too much.....
Â
Overall ive been doing really really well..... im proud to say.......
Â
in 104 days if im stil lgamble free itll be 2345 days....... id really like to hit this milestone.....
Â
Tomo will be three weeks work completed since new year....... Ill strive to get thru the next week without a sick day....... like to keep things in sight.... not look too far ahead..... get this week done.... then the next and so on...... unitll i hit a significant milestone...... but id like to improve my sick day numbers this year...... have to see how my health goes..... eat plenty of fruit...... vitamins..... rest plenty,,,,,,, and no stress..... to keep me in work thruout the year......
Â
I feel like keeping this year simple is the way to success...... simple objectives..... not pushing the boundaries..... more ticking along......Â
Â
Â
evening diary..... keeping up my daily update....... Today was ok lots done at work....... Bought few bits at sainsburys on way back...... then a sleep....... then cooked and had a bath....... then watched you tube and gamcare chat........ Ive managed to do 58k steps soo far this week which means just have to do 12k tomo then ive hit my 70k target and can have a rest day on saturday horray...... Saturday will be filled with footy, a pot noodle, gaming and rest........ The 20 pound voucher has really helped got a few bits today and will buy a few more tomo........Â
Â
Super proud of my progress soo far this year...... steps in the right direction..... doing stuff but not overdoing it....... really really good.
Â
all the best adam
Adam you are a top bloke, although we never met, I just know it 👍
You inspired me a lot within my journey to freedom, amazing to see your progress and what you've achieved.Â
Just don't forget to enjoy what you have, and prioritise that over the pursui of more and more. What you have is golden my friend, you worked for it... So you can afford to sit back from time to time and just soak it all in 👍
Top man!Â
Hi Signalman........ Just when i was self critisicing myself for a poor relaxing day....... thinking im gonna go walking in the rain at midnight to get some good steps in and burn off the calories...... when i was looking at my finances again thinknig im not going to spend any money for a motnh and tighten my reigns..... when i was thinknig no i wont spend money on entertainment....... i was thinking i need to knuckle down....... JUST WHEN I NEEDED IT THE MOST........at this time in need i see this post from u signalman...... someone whos taken the time to read my diary, see the effort im putting into life and taken the time to post on here....... That really has made my month mate.....those comments really have struck a chord...... as ive sat here looking at my situation im now in living in my own flat, with a stable job, with friends and family (both local and on gamcare) close by........ critising myself again........ Obsessing over every detail........ Â
Â
What infact am i looking for ive got it all....... I've actually nailed it already!!!!!!!!!
Â
Many Many thanks for this post signalman........
Â
In fact when i read that post i looked up ur userame and a post with u on came up centreing around u being on here in 2018 the precise moment i hit my personal breaking point in life and the moment of clarity that i had where i stopped all vices and nailed the revocery.......
Â
This is the post:
Â
I posted this about 5 years ago...I at that time hadn't gambled for about 9 months.
Â
"4 people stuck out who all stopped within a few weeks of each other.
Slowlearner, ALN, Signalman, and Adam123
Some were older than me, some a fair bit younger.....
Slowlearner, ALN, Signalman, Adam123 - I couldn't have come this far without you."
Â
Returning after 4 years or so, wracked with guilt and regret at slipping yet again, I cast around to see familiar names and if they were still posting.
It was a little disheartening when all the names of recent posters were mainly unfamiliar, however I know this place did me a lot of good
However, imagine what an immense boost it was when Slowlearner and Signalman both reached out to me within a couple of days of starting again, and then to find Adam123 is another who still gamble free.
Two people who I wouldn't recognize in the street, both putting an arm under each shoulder as I start again.
3 out of 5 people, 60%, gamble free.
That's an extraordinary success (and yes, its only a success one day at a time) for an addiction that is notoriously hard to treat.
There was something magical about this place 2018 - 2019 for me.
Connecting with people who shared some of the same experiences, being total honest about ourselves, and providing well thought out constructive support.
I know I can never recreate that, and at the moment I find it more useful to read my own diary from that time, alongside posts from those mentioned above.
Â
What I'm saying (for any newer posters who reads this) is that I hope you can all find your own little group of people that support each other and keep in touch - always bearing in mind that your own recovery should always come first.
Â
Now this post really fills me with pride....... and that time on here really was the start (for me and many) of sometihng great.....
Â
so after this lovely signalman post im now not going to go out in the rain........at midnight........ im going to get some sleep and wake up for my free cafe nero coffe....... a brisk morning walk in the gym...... and then another snooze before watching the footy tomo.......
Â
Thanks for the wake up call at precisely the perfect moment........Signalman u legend....... Ive got it all under control...... why scrutinise any more.
Â
Adam123
Â
here i am after that day that i planned last night in the wee hours.....
Â
Today i woke up five am managed to get my cafe nero voucher for today then fell asleep again.... then woke up midday had cheese on toast...... and a cuppa...... then went to town got my free coffee...... then i thought id have a day on the couch...... so i started to watch the 2pm footy matches...... then felt restless because its the first day of the week steps wise...... so i went to the gym and got a waitrose free coffee on route...... done 8k steps (great start)....... then came home watched the arsenal game which was tbf immense...... worth my monthly subscription sky sports fee just for that game id say...... ate fish cake for dinner..... then done washing up took out sausages from freezer for tomo..... put my soup in jar for tomo in fridge and got overnight oats in fridge for tomo morning...... then i had a bath and watched you tube and went on chat...... there really is a lot of junk on you tube tbf and its designed to change ur opinion just like facebook and i think its mainly geared towards getting people saving, fitness, eating healthier etc....... Id really hate to be growing up in this information age....... people must be soo insecure...... or maybe they tougher skinned and its just me who thinks too much..... either way i prefer to stay clear of facebook, twitter, all those things and try to be as confident and happy with myself as i can be without outside judgement.....
Â
Next week starts tomo after a nice sleep hopefully...... got a good start on the steps at 8137
Â
will aim to not overdo it....... ill stick to the usual routine.... with satuday as a rest day.....Â
Â
Weds eurpean final gameweek of group stages........ then spurs got city at the weekend.....
Â
Â
At least we snatched the draw away from disaster at Burnley on Saturday mate. We are playing so badly that we will probably beat city like we have for the last few years
How long is the manager going to last
Another good days recovery..... Went to work...... came back got a coffee...... had a sleep...... cooked eggs and sausage on toast....... felt energised so went to the gym ended up on 17k steps today.... 25k for first two days..... happy with that...... came on chat...... now in bed chilling with a cuppa.
Â
Onwards to tomo
Another day done..... done 18,000 steps today horray
Hi Adam mate
You are smashing it out of the park this week. Even with a good figure today I'm only on 25,500 for three days
If you ever get the chance, I went to the modern meeting at 1am to 2am UK time. It's amazing and there were some big YouTubers there and some.incredible shares. You don't have to put the camera on or talk
Â
Stuart
So u did 19000 today then....... Now that's great work mate......missed u on chat tonight
Hi Mate,Â
How about this for a day
Modern meeting on zoom from 1am to 215am.whucj was mind blowing
Sleep until 6 and up to walk my daughter to the station for Uni in the driving rain and cold. Walked back home, quick shower and then walked back to the station to get train to counselling still raining. Another walk the other side to the mental health team, one hour there then walked back to station and then home the other side absolutely knackered. Looked after my son in the afternoon who is autistic while my other half went to work. Then 630 walked to meet my sponsor for the 12 steps, then GA afterwards and walked home to get back at about 10. Now that's full on but I feel uplifted and more determined than ever. Today was another great day gamble free and now 69 days GF but only one day away from the next betÂ
Couldn't make the chatroom as GA, was it good ?.
Wow cracking day.......bet ur knackered after all that with little sleep.......well done....... I've had good day.......typed up my objectives for work as got my annual review tomo....... Chat was ok few newbies, lots of jokes and new look chatroom.
