I do not feel like I need to post much on here anymore but then again I do to the people who are just starting their recovery. I have been clean since begining of December last year. My addiction of choice was slot machines. I wont go into much on how much was spent etc because it is not important. The message is simple from a gambler with a twentyfive years of addiction. There is a tomorrow. There are other feelings that do not have anything to do with the twisted angst we gamblers carry around with us at all times. I am living proof. It can be done. Recovery is not just about getting back up the cliff. It is a life change. We are very used to doing things in patterns. The rituals of everyday life stay the same.My advice is to decide to change them. If you are used to gamble infront of the computer. Use betfilter and turn of the pc a few hours and do something else. If you go to the bookies in one part of town get on the buss and get of after the favorite place passes. Make active changes. It helps you deal with triggers that may start you up again. Seek help. Eaven though the journey is yours alone you will need help to get down the river. Gamcare is great. GA is also great. Gives you tools u can use to succeed. And finaly. Understand that reprograming your brain takes longer than a month. It is a long long process.Do not give up. You will be happy that you didnt.
