need help

Fella I fully understand the view you have written, the fobt my choice of gambling,so I emulate with what you write.

For me towards the end of my gambling life I willed myself to lose my stake quicker,to I think get it over with so to speak.

Because the truth of it for me is no matter how much the balance said during any given episode of gambling I deep down knew what I would 95% of the time be withdrawing Nothing, nil, I would simply head down, not look at anyone walk the walk of shame,of course telling myself that was me done with gambling.

Within hours I would be plotting my next punt.

As it has been written many times by some wiser folk than I

'to repeat the same thing over and over again and expect a different outcome is without doubt madness'

That took twenty years for the penny to drop so to speak.

Well done for turning on a different light fella

Keep working through it.

nearly said i b#t but i wont, so ill say i reckon those people when you were self excluding that you were explaining to why you were in there had a good look at there own problem gambling when you told them why your in the bookies . Weird when you said you felt like 1 last bet it made me feel like 1 last bet as i was reading it and thinking about how i used to feel when not done for a while . But NO i will not its not for me no more its pointless its stupid and im not prepared to waste the money or time on it .

Really well done thats got to be one of the most productive days you have ever had , and think you did the right thing going for meal with your kids

Thanks for the post. It's certainly to someones credit to see the light and admit they have a problem and do something about it for sure.

I just don't think use of the word proud is correct in the context of recovery. Someone who has been living their life in the wrong way be it a gambler, an alcoholic, drug user, robber, committed a crime etc should after admitting a problem do what they have to do to get back on track but without being applauded or complimented by those who have lived life correctly and strongly. Those who have been fellow addicts can encourage each other as that helps recovery. Those who have not succumbed to addiction should just shake their heads and say ' I don't understand how you were like that for so many years - you were an embarrassment and a disgrace'.

Best wishes for your own recovery.

serously spot on , this gambling addiction thing has taught me many things not to take money for granted, its taught me money doesnt make you happy , its taught me not to waste a moment in life , its taught me whos important , ect... ect... ect.... this list goes on but one big thing it has done to me and taught me is im no better than any alcaholic than any drug addict and so on as they have both got addicted just like me ,and so this has hummbled me , so although i wished i never wasted the time and money some good lessons have been learned out of this .

Fella it is great to read the rewards of making a choice to arrest the punt gifts,it is for me a fantastic advertisement for abstinence.

My Friend ENJOY it

Thanks for sharing

You turned that mantra full circle

I DID WIN BECAUSE I DID STOP

abstain and maintain
