Being a genetic yorkshire woman Duncs....I am putting my lunch order in early ...no messing.

fish (haddock) ,chips (with scraps) fried in beer batter and beef dripping, mushy peas all served in newspaper...lashing of salt and vinegar and two rounds of buttered Hovis bread.....

For afters....Heinz steamed treacle pudding in a tin with custard.

Should really say a pan of scouse as tribute to my adopted city but will have to go for "its in me blood" first option.

At the table, well Duncs as you know am pretty fussy but for me it's back to my roots i'm afraid ,

Moussaka and a lovely Greek Salad with lashings of feta cheese please lol lol

So sad I missed you.

For me what an honour it would be to sit at that table .

Cover anything in chocolate( well except brockley) and I'm a gooden . But you knew that anyways .

There are some truly inspirational, funny and determined folk on this site at present. Do not think your restaurant is bigger enough to hold them all.lol

It is a pleasure to log on everyday , to soak it all up, to be honest .

Planning application in the post to extend the barge , think the name changes weekly , which is not such a bad idea . This week the love boat , next week ........

evening diary.

well that sun did not last lol I reckon shiny took it !!!

Still today my 2 sons came to work after lunch service armed with a football and we all took to the common and had a kick about for an hour,great fun watching my 6ft 4 number two get nutmegged by my youngest lol. then back to work to a message that a family friend is losing there long battle with cancer. Tonight I am still at work finishing some paperwork and the last of the tables then out of character I will be spending my emergency £20 on a round or 2 to toast our friend and wish them well and a pain free final chapter. I am fully intent on this summer all be it wet enjoying as much time with my family as possible I feel like we are on a road together that will change in many ways as eldest is 18 now and lily-may starts college so I in light of todays events will strive to cram more into this life,one I am ever humbled by and will live each day with respect and ever in the knowledge that it can change in a flash, I Do BELIEVE I am making a difference to my life and finally one daily for the better.

evening diary. Today we recieved the sad news that after a sterling, wholehearted battle our friend lost her life to cancer. So today r.i.P kim. May you rest in peace and find a pain free existance within eternity. Duncs compulsive gambler NO BET today. Stepping forward never back.

thanks for all your kind words this forum really does show me great humility every day. I will treasure the fact that kims last family memory of ours would be that of a picture of our lily-may in her prom dress and how it made her smile.

today I will move forward in my quest to live hard and get the most out of all I do,this for me is another defining moment in my life,I sit listening to mr Jamie T, panic prevention on my phone,of which the song "back in the game" a song which i used to reference in my gambling days as an up when I had a win or worse got away with another lie or cover up,today day 178 as a non-gambler(what I will refer myself as when and if it arises in conversation as I find compulsive gambler strikes fear into the face of the person more times than not and that brick wall comes up.)I use the song as a reminder that I am in a game of sorts this is the second half of it, I have stopped diving,cheating appealing for things I have not earnt I chase down every ball,I block each shot with all I have,I inshort treat each day like it is my "cup final" and my team today well we are stunning, my beautiful sarah,the person I do love so dear and cherish with all my heart,my three kids tearing around now smiling, my workmates and this forum and Ga,a team folks that would always stand up to be counted,a team who wont be knocked back one that understands one another,the one with the winning formula.

So today I will stride on forward never back as I do accept I cannot change the past,but new kit,polished boots and sun shining today I know I will work hard as hard as I can to make a difference,tomorrow well we all know it will be better for it.

Egg plant, before modifications my nan used to sweat them in salt , wash and then fry lightly before placing in the dish, now though i find straight in before baking and they remain more stable and not at all bitter 😉

You sound strong and in good spirits today even though there is a sadness.

ps...saw a film last night set in a hot michelin starred kitchen...one chap put white flour down the back of the chefs pants whilst he was cooking to soak up the sweat...is this an insider trade secret???
