afternoon diary.

Today marks 31 weeks gamble free, a day off spent with the pulse, my soulmate someone who has in all this never buckled my sarah.we walked the hound for a long walk over the hill a sight to behold the city I love waking up and springing into life.we then went to villroy and boch to sort out new crockery for work, a reward for my efforts, last night my boss took me out for a steak and has enpowered me to take the food towards were I want it.

After we lunched and shopped, a few treats from our hard earnt wages something that satisfies me more than anything iI bought out of any win I ever had.

flixs tonight and a few beers in between, gambling I don't have time for it not today that's for sure, today I thought about what's beaten me in life, gambling did, it had me licked but out of it I won!!!! I got a second half, recovery gave me this that's what's on offer I take it two handed.and just for today mr. punt be warned I still have and always will have my stick , the one you beat me with so many times and I have a grip one to beat you back with.

Stepping forward never back.

Morning diary,

If what yesterday brought me was the rewards of recovery then bring it on, today the rain is relentless so don't expect to see many customers today, a days paperwork and a chance to catch up on some gamcare medicine, it's so invigorating to read so many recoveries are going towards there lights guide, and the great humility that comes hand in hand with it.

I said I went out for a steak with the boss the night before last and wanted to mention what happened when he paid, he got a £5 casino voucher and as he knows the own they offered me one too, before I got a chance to politely decline my boss tore a strip off the fella, something I explained I admired but felt was unnecessary as today I know I have a choice, I understand that this restaurant has too try and have an edge and the said casino is along with other steak houses in the same road, and to boot judging by how tough a time the boss had eating his steak they do need an edge!!! A sharp one on the knife would have maybe been better lol.

Duncs compulsive gambler NO BET today

Stepping forward never back.

Keep making the choice just for today.

Hi Dunc,

Thank you so much for your kind words, bought a tear to the eye but made me think how wonderful genuine people are and that they can give words of support when overcoming their own issues

Good to see you have spent some quality time with Sarah and buying new stuff without the worries of money is just great!

lol at the way your boss supported you in that resturant and as you say their steak was tough as old boots so no competition there then lol

Keep doing what your doing Dunc , it's great to see

Keep Strong

Smiling Lucy

Hiya Duncs

Always great to see your joire de vive (if thats the word) and optimism..you are a real asset to this forum and always there with a kind word and encouragement,...

We are all on the right paths and yes...self care at the top ....in a way its just being around people who 'get you" and maybe keeping a wee distance from folk who don't ....just for self protection..and being in places and around things that make us feel good about ourselves.

I think we all have been walking our talk and you especially Duncs always standing by your word and never going back....

big hugs to you and Sarah and a ///// wave from the settee xx

Hi Duncs,

You talk from the heart fella.....I just love reading your diary!

Thank you for being you...and for all the support you offer to everyone!

When we arrive on this site we are usually battered and very bruised. It is the words of others that help us on our journeys!

Thank you for being one of the others!

Hugs Sue x

Evening diary.

Tonight I feel very anxious, not a feeling I am comfortable with, tonight my anxiety is for my first born joe, a man now in many more ways than I was at his tender 18 years old. Tomorrow his life path will take a big turn, if his a levels give him the results he will be off to east anglia to uni, if not another years college, either way I could not be more proud, he stood in the face of adversity countless to times, forgave when he could have very got angry, listened but always spoke the truth, gave up money when he should not have, and in amongst all this he became portsmouths first young poet laureate of which has seen him perform on a national level, to which his poetry beyond his years has on many occasion s brought me to tears and many others, to end just for today joe my wonderful boy I write not as near as cleverly as you with tears of pride running down my face that you did become a man my son and yours is the earth and all that's in it.

Duncs stepping forward never back a proud proud man.

hi Duncs...

I hope you get some rest and not fret too much...whatever the outcome your son will go on to do great things but I am sure he will get the grades he needs and deservedly so.

Poetry is a wonderful craft...if he hasn't already...tell him to check out Simon Armitage...a modern poet for the times...one of his poems aptly named "you may turn over and begin"

night night
