Day 85.

Still feeling a little under the weather today🤢😴, so just taking it easy at home.

My manager sent an email out to our team last night, to inform them that I will be leaving on 1st August. Everyone now know and I have had some lovely messages from some of my colleagues so far🥰. I am still on annual leave until Thursday which I am glad about as I am still not 100% myself today. Hopefully, I will have recovered by tomorrow🤞🙏. My sister was the same for a couple of days so may have caught it off her?

More tennis to watch from Eastbourne so at least I am not bored sitting at home👌.

No gambling, no thoughts of gambling, no urge to gamble!👌

Take care all.

Day 86.

A hot one today!🥵. Still off work on annual leave and started to feel better this eve so hopefully this will continue, as I head back into work tomorrow🙏.

Watched more tennis today from Eastbourne and looking forward to Wimbledon starting next Monday👌🎾🍓.

Was just thinking, it is payday the day after tomorrow and it had slipped my mind! Not that I have anything left in my bank account just now - the odd few pounds🙃. However, all my bills are paid, I have plenty of food and petrol AND I was able to purchase extra things/treat others this month so all is ok. It will be another tight month next month but I was expecting this so nothing too surprising for me there. I know things will steadily improve and I keep reminding myself that - “steady wins the race and patience is a virtue”👍.

One day in work tomorrow and then I am off until next Tuesday so that’s a nice feeling😃.

Good night, God bless all. Stay safe and make your days happier.

Day 86.

Treat Thursday on the chat forum this eve (I invented it for anyone wondering)!🍫😆. I will catch up on there for half an hour later.

Payday tomorrow - Third g.f payday in a row💪. Things gradually improving month by month. Big food shop arriving in the morning, along with my wine stash- 25% off 6 bottles or more at Sainsbury’s so “down there for dancin” as the saying goes!😜.

Worked from home today, which I was glad about as still not feeling 100% in my energy levels but hopefully getting there🙏. Off now until next Tuesday👍.

Keep going folks and like me, make your next payday a gamble-free one and keep tight hold of your money!💷💷💷.

Day 88 - Payday!!

Spot the mistake!! I wrote “Day 86” twice in my diary above 🙈. Today marks 88 days since money last came out of my bank account for a gambling transaction. Payday today is just another day of feeling calmer, at peace and generally content with my current situation. I had a proper meal this evening so hoping I will be fully recovered from this virus by tomorrow and head out along the coast, for a nice walk with my sister. It helps that it is literally on my doorstep 👍.

My Sainsbury’s grocery and wine delivery arrived at 8am this morning. Unfortunately, one of the bottles of wine had pierced and had dripped all over my food items. Luckily, they were all in packages and so I could just wipe them down. I returned all the wine to the delivery guy and then went to my big Sainsbury’s store to purchase them again - “what a chore” I thought. Upon getting back home and lugging them up to my apartment, I discovered that I had been charged for 3 extra bottles!🤬. Back down all the stairs, lugging the wine to my car and back to the store.  A thought came to my mind whilst driving - “here I am feeling annoyed at being over charged by around £21.00, yet, at the end of March this year, I did something as ludicrous as spend almost all of my salary on online gambling within a matter of hours of being paid”! Thankfully, I just shuddered and was able to quickly move on. On a brighter note, customer services gave me £25.00 - £10.00 cash and £15.00 in vouchers towards my next online food shop 👏👏. Every cloud!👌😄.

I am looking forward to the weekend now that I am feeling better. I hope everyone else is too and if not, remember, each day is a new day!

Take care all and be kind to yourselves.

Great to see you still beating this. It's amazing how our attitudes to money have changed in the last 3 months. Its also great to see you buying things for you to enjoy, rather than to waste 5 min of your life. Glad you got a little extra out of the supermarket too. That's £4 extra to enjoy on yourself next month!

Hope you fell better soon. Nothing worse than feeling ill. Well, feeling ill and then giving your entire wages to a bookies may beat it, but luckily that's a thing of the past.

Stay strong 👍

Day 89.

Going on a nice walk with my sister this afternoon along the coast and then back to mine for a cuppa and Red Velvet cake!😋. This will be followed by a wine spritzer (or two) and some nice music, as we “put the world to rights”😆 A quick supper to add later on.👌

Feeling much better today so that’s good👍. Health is so much more important than money - you can have all the money you need and more but if you are not feeling physically or mentally well, then it pails into insignificance.

Another payday passes. More monthly bills and debt will be paid and a further tight month will pass but the important thing, is that I will be calm and not filled with anxiety. Knowing for certain that none of my money will be spent on Blackjack or horse racing is a great feeling👌.

Take care all. Enjoy your days and remain patient.

Day 90.

I have just spent almost two hours reading someone’s diary from 12 years ago! It took me back to when my gambling really took a hold and I went from having an incredible credit score rating, to a then nonexistent one - it is still not brilliant now but it is steadily improving over the years so I just accept and go with this 👍. I think the word “steady”, is such an important one for people who find themselves on here! It is something I am definitely telling myself each month - “steady wins the race”!

Back to the guy whose diary I have just read through. He had got himself to over 300 days g.f which he is to be commended for, however since then, and for a good 3 years more, he has basically gambled on and off on a regular basis and recorded all these events in his diary. I know I have done the same but thankfully, I have had more gambling “bouts” here and there but nonetheless, this has caused devastation to my financial situation, so I use the word “thankfully” extremely loosely! To me, it seemed like this guy could just not let go of what he kept losing each time, for a long time and I know this is common to us all on here.

What did I take from reading this person’s diary?

1. Day 1/day 300, you must always be on your guard and treat each day as a day that you WILL NOT gamble. I went 5 years g.f but did not renew my blocks straight away. Lesson learned there!

2. Life should not be just about money - the very thing us people on here have attempted to get more of, yet the exact opposite has happened, even when we have been initially winning.

3. To continually remind myself that gambling will ultimately just lead to further financial loss and that any winnings are really just “loans” from betting sites, acting as our friendly bank manager (NOT)!! It never ends up being “our money for good” and that’s the crucial point.

4. Reading posts like this can affect my “half full glass” approach to life/my own g.f journey so I need to remind myself that this is “his” diary and NOT mine and these are his actions and NOT mine👍.

5. To remind myself of my goals and how much calmer and less stressful life can be when I am not gambling.

Always one to end on a positive……. I am off out for a nice walk with my sister this afternoon - even though it is grey and miserable👎. Are we really about to head into July???☔️💨🤷🏻‍♀️. We will have a “browse” around M&S. We will then walk back to my sister’s and she is going to cook a nice dinner for us both for this evening👌. All of this will not have cost me one penny👍.

I will continue on my g.f journey and will remain positive and committed💪.

Take care all and remember - day 1 or day 300, placing a further bet after this, usually ends up on yet another downward spiral, losing a little or a lot of our hard earned money.  No thank you.👊👊👊.

Nicely put pinky. I’ve read that diary. I’ve read most of them. They are all so similar to my ex way of life. I see parallels with them all. I see the mistakes I made in them, I see the mistakes I could now make in them. The diaries have been a huge part of my recovery so far and I’m glad you find something in them too.

Hope you had a nice walk and dinner. Can’t beat a free day!

Stay strong 💪
