So It has now been 9 days since I last gambled. It's very early days but I am feeling positive. I am excluded from all of my online sites, and haven't really felt the urge to gamble too badly as yet. I have though sat down and reminisced about seeing 'big win' flashing up on my screen and remembered that feeling that comes with it. I then stop and think about the £6000 debt that I am in, and how I almost felt suicidle after my big losses. My mind is slowly processing the fact that yes I have won, but I have lost so much more. My debts have been a huge worry. I owe my dad £3000 and overdrafts and loans £3000. I applied for a 0% balance transfer credit card for 40 months and got accepted! I have now moved the £3000 I owe onto that, and will pay it back interest free for the 40 months by direct debit. It's such a huge weight lifted. I will also continue to pay my dad back, and I won't be broke every month! Over the last 9 days seeing money in my bank account is really odd! I'm usually down to pennies a week after payday, from gambling it all away usually within 48 hours! It's really giving me confidence to see that I can keep my hard earned money in the bank, and use it for what it's intended. I know I have a long road ahead, and I will continue to use this forum (as already it has been a huge help) next payday will be the big test but I'm feeling confident, and my depression has lifted slightly already.

Hey & welcome to GC!

Huge step has been made and you admitting you have a problem is all what is required to start moving away from self destruction!
Well done on 10 days ☺..double figures already and they will keep mounting up for sure!

Good to read you have put blocks in place. Have you considered a blocking software on your device? K9 is for free and can well and truly stop you in your tracks if urges starts knocking at the door. GC offers free counselling sessions if you would find them helpful. it's always good to look at reasons why we make such bad choices..usually it boils down way deeper than just money...it's an unhealthy way to fill voids in our lives.

Loads of support on this site, stick around! Post, share, read around. There are so many great stories on here and we are all the same, so please keep posting, we all understand ☺

I wish you well in your journey, keep making that right choice each and every day..it will definitely get better.
Keep believing in yourself, your life is your oyster ☺

Sandra
