Hi , first time I have been on this site .... So many people with issues and personal battles going on its plain to see gambling can ruin lives.

I have been gambling since I've left school and I'm now 29 , couldn't guess how much I have lost!! I have a beautiful daughter who doesn't realise her dad his chucking her money down the drain.

I can't seem to stay out of the bookies and playing the machines ,games, roulette that sort of thing.

Need help

Escobar, well done for posting! You have time on your side, be strong and you will beat it, but only if you are 100% committed! Otherwise it could have you in the gutter.

All the very best my friend.

" I can't seem to stay out of the bookies "

I highly recommend you self exclude from your local bookies. It takes away the temptation knowing you cant go in. If you are truely committed about wanting to stop them its something that must be done.

Wishing you all the best.

Mark

Hey Escobar!

Thanks for the post on my diary mate, just been reading yours & thought it would be good to return the favour.

Just remember your not alone through this. Even though sometimes you will think you are, just log on this site & they're will always be someone to help & talk to.

I like you was addicted to the roulette machines, & I managed to go 6 months without them before I had a relapse which I am now working on recovering from at the moment.

A few tips that you can use could be

- Self Excluding from your local bookies

- Limiting the funds you take with you on a daily basis to work etc (only take money for travel/dinner)

Well done for joining a gym, it's the first thing I did 8 months ago & it did help stimulate & focus my mind on other matter rather than gambling once I got in a good routine.

Hope to hear from you soon & hope all goes well mate. Just remember keep positive & 'Another Day Not Gambling = Another Day Winning'

Hi Eppy

Thanks for the message mate , no problem at all I could relate to your issues.

Some really good advice which I plan on taking , another gamble free day which I feel good about.

The gym is helping as you get a good sense of achievement once it you have finished the work out.

Hope your keeping away .. And yes this does help and worth talking to other people , it's a constant up hill battle but we are not alone.

Keep going and speak soon
