Hi Freda... yes I know what you mean about quiz machines. Many years ago I use to play them obsessively. Like you say they give rise to the same sort of feelings that any gaming machine does. My philosophy is that if it feels like gambling then try to stay well clear. Glad you were able to nip the B*****r into touch before it developed into anything more dangerous.

Thanks for your support as always.. S.A 🙂

Hi Freda,

Thanks again for posting on my 'new' diary.I was in a bit of a state when I came back on here yesterday and had read a few people's diaries but didn't notice that you were still here.I got quite tearful when I read your post - happy tears though cause it was just so good to hear from you again and, reading others' posts, I think you've been such a help and an inspiration to others.

I think I said it before but you'd be a great counsellor 'cause who better to understand this thing than someone who's been on this rollercoaster themselves?

Sorry to hear you've had a bit of a 'slip-up' too but you're only human like the rest of us and you're doing all the right things again.

Good luck with the dieting. You're right - it gets much, much harder as you get older. When I stopped the machine habit before though, I managed to lose a fair bit of weight for my holiday 'cause it gives you something else to focus on - and gives you some spending money too so it's a win, win without gambling!

Well done on stopping after that 50p. Losing 50p for a little bit of entertainment is no major loss but losing £50 trying to chase that impossible jackpot has to be a no-no.

After all, you can buy a really good little video game for 59p on the Touch/iPad these days.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Hi all,

thanks for your posts!

just a quick one to say I haven't bet today, and am not going back out anywhere after work, so I can call that 7 weeks bet-free!

I'm defo staying well clear of the quiz machines because its too risky for triggering me off, if its just a bit of fun and nothing more, than I can live without it right? We went to the pictures yesterday afternoon, and I noticed the quiz machine there straight away. I wanted to go it but didn't. Feeling that pull after only one 50p game? scary!

feeling a bit vulnerable today. Am fine, but just a bit hormonal. I work with a total know it all, and normally I just totally ignore her, but she been getting on my wick a bit today. People do though, when you are not quite yourself, it passes!

Hi Freda,

Hormonal too today and also work in a place full of know it all's.

One male especially who gets on my t*ts every day.

Do you remember the Father Ted sketch where Ted kicks Bishop Brennan up the a**e.Every time this person bent over his desk today, I imagined giving him a good hard kick and it brought a smile to my face.I'm not normally violent but it did the trick.

Keep strong

Heh heh, thanks Kay, Curly and SA too!

In a good place this morning. I've a week off work next week, but not too worried about getting up to naughty gambling. Hubby will hang on to that bank card for me.

Starting to really notice the benefit of not gambling, money-wise. Lots of positives. Not sweating on payday this month, finally opened that savings account last month, things are looking up 🙂

Great last post from you Freda--looking forward to a week off is fantastic. In the past I know you would have been dreading the free time because thoughts would have strayed to you know what.

Forward is definitely the way forward!! Do not look back Freda.

All the best

Well thank f**k I have got a week off work, away from vinegar t*ts. Do you know, its sad when someone is in a bad place, and I will happily lend a sympathetic ear for a couple of hours a week, but this is taking the P**s.

My colleague makes me think of that Radiohead song "you do it to yourself, you do, and that's what really hurts. You do it to yourself, just you, you and no one else." could also be talking about myself there when I was gambling. I like to think I didn't whine for hours on end to people about the plop I had got myself into though.

Am applying for other jobs all the time, and will just hang tight, and stop listening til then. heh heh.

I have got a lovely husband, and a lovely home, and a nice glass of red wine - what else do you need eh?

Vinegar t**ts--love it.

What is the difference between a jumbo jet and an American---the Jumbo jet stops whining after it lands at Heathrow.

Have a great weekend and a lovely week away from the sour puss.
