Woke up today feeling great after a really good meeting lastnight, got speaking with a few guys before it aswel with the same problems as myself through this horrible illness.day 9 doesn't feel that long bet free when I seen others at the meeting on 25 years but when I spoke with them, they still to this day take it one day at a time.hopefully one day I can turn round and say I have never had a bet for 25 years as those guys looked so happy to say it lastnight. Scottyboy is cruising to day ten with no urges so far.:-) goodluck today everyone

hi scotty boy , just to say i read back to your last loss, and at that time on your diary i sensed a fear of not being able to stop this fear i had , and now has gone , i would not be able to bet again without getting addicted i know , but i am able now not to place another bet in the first place , and also the fear of not being able to stop has gone as i know i can and have . reading through your last 9 days reads as though you are more determined than ever and also reads without the fear of not being able to stop . by the sounds of it you ga meetings are doing you the world of good . i would suggest you forget all your losses they are gone , but when you do have spare cash again dont let it burn a hole in your pocket to make you gamble again , as i have done so many times , its just not worth it and is pointless , as dunc says to repeat something over and over again and expect a different outcome is utter madness . We can not expect to start winning when in the long run we have always lost and we know that if we win today we will only loose more tomorrow . Be strong my friend , i completley understand where you are coming from [ although i gambled for only 18 months to 2 years ] but does not matter as i still lost thousands and thousands , which still hurts now , which in a way is good as it puts me off doing it again . As i say i completley understand wher you are coming from , how ill you feel after a loss , i once lost about 17 hundred to 18 hundred in just over 10 mins , i was seriously out of control , that time i did not know who i was and i still went on to gamble more and more CRAZY, that was probably the worst i had ever felt , but not my last bet by a long shot . MY Point is remember how you felt after your last loss or your worst loss or both as when you get an urge think of this , this will defently help you stop and again letting go of the losses will help you move on , doing this along with sharing a bank account as you are going to and going to GA and giving your wife spare cash you will beat this .

Last point i think sometimes we have either got to be ready to stop or really want to stop , before we can actually stop [ they are both probably the same thing lol ] , and by the sounds of it from your last 9 days writing on your diary , you sound to me like you really want to stop and are ready to stop which equals i think you can do it now beat this addiction and stop .

sorry to rammble on , all the best and will be thinking of you and next time your kids need something you will be able to get it them . well done keep going , simon

Well done mate we are really getting on a role here! So glad the meeting worked for you, ye like you say 2 hours is nothing when you think of the time we have wasted gambling. We only get one life, lets make sure we don't waste another second on this poisonous destructive addiction.

Scotty

Fella thanks for popping by my thread,as I said the last time you were here you bring a great deal of good to the forum,I hope it rubs off on your own life first and foremost.

For the forum is a great place to share the good and bad in honest measure, they show a true account of gambling and the compulsion to gamble.

Abstain and maintain

Duncs stepping forward never back

Scotty,

keep your chin up mate I need you strong! We have to expect down days that's the legacy of the addiction. But that is in the past and like you say if you can take the short term financial pain then the future will be bright, though we have to stay clean to have that bright future.

I'm having to sell my computer and phone to keep the wolves from the door. Abstaining is the only way out.

stay strong mate, nearly at two weeks 🙂
