Hello. My name is Andy and I'm new to this online support but I feel this is something I need to do before I do something stupid. My life over the last 2 years has got worse with gambling and this FOBT addiction I can't seem to get rid of. I'm recently married but currently unemployed. My wife has access to my bank account and has taken away all access to monies even taking my ID so I cannot go into my bank to withdraw money. I have very little motivation or self esteem and i'm very low at the moment. I'm on anti depressants but with everything that has gone off in my life over the last 2/3 years I feel useless and a burden to my wife and my family. I do try but I always make wrong decisions then this sets me off to gamble. My Councillor has recommended me talking on here so If anybody can try and offer me any hints or advice then it will be appreciated as i'm at the end of it all.....Thank you Andy

Hi Andy

Well done for admitting your problem and you will get a lot of support on the site. Try to be nice to yourself which I know is not easy. Any addiction is difficult to recover from and this is no different. Take things one day or one hour at a time and read some diaries to get some helpful ideas.

Take care and best wishes

Cheryl xxx

Thanks Cheryl. I ve tried taking it 1 day and its very hard. Maybe If I take it an hour at a time that will help. Its worse when i'm on my own, thats when I start and think about things in my life when then triggers my anger and frustration and before I know it i'm leaving the house.
