One pound will buy me some really cheap PC games that I have had reserved at a major store ready to sell on for a profit.

There really is an awful lot you can do with one pound. Only us lot can realise this which is a very good thing.

1h 53m! Well done! Now you really do have a target... beat my PB! My PB is 1h 51m from a few years ago. I certainly am not ready for a PB at the moment, more like 2h 15m, but am hoping to break the 2 hour barrier in next March's half marathon.

Keep on running, mate and stay gamble free.

Even if it's a huge £1 🙂

S.A

Thanks for keeping an eye on my diary, it's appreciated.

The value of money.....

When gambling it has no value because no matter how much we have it will only be used to fuel the next gambling binge. With gambling out of our lives money suddenly has real value again, even a single pound is something that we can do something useful with.

Keep up the good work, one day at a time we will continue to enjoy all the benefits of staying well clear of gambling.

Day 27 dawns gambling free. I was looking back through my diary and on the 29th October 2008 I was 159 days gambling free. It feels a little sad to read that. It kinda gets me feeling that counting days has now served its purpose. Its a motivation for a while in getting back on track but now its simply about living life one day at a time gambling free.. no more counting.

Am not feeling to great this morning.. anxiety is quite intense. I guess I will feel better as the day goes on. Thanks for listening.. S.A

Hi SA, Sorry to hear you are feeling down fella. Why don't you pop those running shoes on and go for a jog. I'm sure that will clear the anxiety. Then go a treat yourself to something....a nice chocolate bar or something! Keep going sa. Russ

Cheers Russ for dropping in with your supportive thoughts. I done exactly what you said and went for a run. I feel much better now. Like ive said before i find the mornings the hardest.

Its a productive day so far. I had an email to say that ive passed some online tests for a bank job. However theyve also asked me about my history in more depth. I had to answer a question about have i ever been declared bankrupt.. and yup I have. I fully expect a thankyou for your interest but we are not taking your application forward.. bla bla.. but am pleased to have got this far whatever happens.

Am off out now to sort some issues and be thankful for the joys of being alive. Thanks for listening. No gambling problems.. S.A

Another day dawns gambling free and a gambling free day it shall remain.

Anxiety levels quite high this morning.. but my long Sunday run should take care of that.

I cancelled my gym membership yesterday. Not a luxury I can now afford. Am doing it the correct way this time by giving a months notice rather than just cancelling the D/D which ive done in the past when gambling ruled my life. Am not that bothered about losing the gym I was getting bored of the place anyway. When i joined a few years ago it was supposed to be a social outlet but it never really became that. When am working again I may join somewhere else but then again I may not.

Talking of saving money. I went shopping yesterday and needed new razors. Normally i'd buy Mac3 gillette razors cos thats what ive always got. But I looked at prices and they were £7.97 for 4 razors as opposed to £3 for 5 tesco razors (which still includes the aloe vera strip)... goodbye Mr Mac!

If in gambling mode i'd end up having to get Bic razors.. single blade rip the skin to shreds.

Thanks for listening.. S.A

Morning sa, I'm glad I was able to help yesterday. My wife used to suffer from anxiety.....I'm sorry to say that I may have been part of the cause. She used to get out and take the dog for a long walk. It always worked for her. If want to save a bit of money on the razors, you could always skip a day or two....nothing wrong with a bit of manly stubble! Enjoy the run. Russ

Hi bargain hunter!

Great deal on those razors. I tend to look out for those Gillette gift packs after Christmas as you can get some great deals on those.

Your post about the gym really struck a chord with me. When I signed up for my first London Marathon in 1994, I joined the gym with the intention of using it as part of my training. It was good for a while but a few years ago I stopped as I went twice in three months and i could not justify the cost.

At the time of joining, I really could not see myself pounding the streets of my home town in fear of people looking at me and laughing.

What was I thinking?!

Pounding the streets is a great way of exploring my home town further, getting fit in the fresh air and saving on petrol and car parking fees if I needed to go to town for small things.

And best of all, it's free!

Hope you enjoyed your long run this morning. I'm still in the 3-5 mile zone. Hoping to increase this a bit more by Christmas (and over Christmas).

Have a great gamble free week

Hi SA

Just dropping by for a virtual high five!

You sound like you are on a fairly even keel, which is good. Don't be shy about knocking on the doc's door if the anxiety starts to get bad. Its so quick and easy to treat if you nip it in the bud. Wish I had taken that advice myself a couple a years ago, lol. Ah well, no use looking backward. It hurts your neck anyway.

Hope your week turns out good 🙂

Take care,

f x
