Here's to a new diary......

I've had 2 poor years on here struggling...... followed by 3 years getting the non gambling principles in order but still struggling........ Followed by 5 years of not gambling to the date today.

I feel that  Gamcare has been the rock in my life that has shown me the light that has guided me to success.

There are a few principles other than not gambling that i wish to get right (or continue to get right) in order for me to have great relationships, health and well-being:

Time spent with family....... My mum had a heart attack recently and my sister has cancer.....  I in recent years have spent more time witth both of them and i am grateful for that time...... Lets continue to build on that time..... We are not getting younger and time is precious a lot with family moments....Im lucky to have them.

Time spent with friends...... BBQs, Watching footy, visits to the gym, coffees, shopping,,,, all with friends is precious to me.... long may it continue.

Building on hobbies and interests...... lately most time has been spent on walking, gym, gaming, football (watching), boxsets, cleaning flat, work and sleep........ Lets get these right..... lets organise and prioritise each for maxmimum benefit.......

Nutrition...... It's a fine balance between spending too much on food (eating plenty of fruit, meat and veggies), spending to little (hitting great finances but eating lots of frozen food) and getting a balance of both..... that best of both worlds.......

Exercise....... Too much and im burnt out frequently..... Too little and i put on weight...... ive done 140k step weeks.....ive done 50k steps weeks ....... the best zone is between 80k-100k a week......im very consistent...... lets keep it up....

With all the principles to get right i often neglect to think about the past and how well ive done to get here...... Ive come thru some tough challenges and am very happy with where i am right now......right now im in the best health ive been in for 20 years...... im holding to down and being successful at work...... im independent..... and am very happy with this moment in life....so lets appreciate the present time for what it is.

Hello adam123,

Thanks so much for taking the time to share this. It’s really inspiring to hear how well you’re doing after going through what sounds like some really tough times.

It sounds like you’ve worked out all the necessary elements that contribute to you enjoying a successful and happy life. I can hear it’s taken a lot of hard work to get to here and I am so glad you’re able to appreciate life as it is now.

I hope you can keep updating us on how you’re doing.

All the best,

Claire

Hi Adam I am going to be selfish here and talk about me for one second. Last weekend I had the best day with family and for the first time in years I could say it was memorable and I loved it.

I can relate and understand how important it is to have family friends and the overall support network in place to help stop gambling. It’s pure joy to see your post with so many positive things after getting it right for 5 years and may it continue.

i could bark on about lots of things but it’s really nice to see you flourishing still.

all the best days to continue
