Well evening folksÂ
Here is something i never thought id hear myself say. A mere 178 days (sounds so small) after 12 years of this sick obsession (sounds so grande!)
I have had some real crazy dreams over the last month or so regarding gambling and winning 🤔!!! However when I wake up I know its just a dream. Even though its hyper vivid i wont act on it.
I am, however, experiencing strong urges NOT to go back. Dont get me wrong, ive thought about it but its almost like I have built a mental block to it. I keep reminding myself how far ive come and my reasons to stay strong.
My advice to all those experiencing urges i have some advice. Keep a photo of your reason to stay strong close. Every time you think of messing up....look at it. Remind yourself how the end looks. Remind yourself, the rewards of NOT giving in, outweigh the 5 second rush and lifetime of regret.Â
Sorry for rambling,Â
Lots of love ❤️Â

Hello pourme88,
Thanks for taking the time to share your experiences and advice – it’s great to hear how well you’re doing.
Focusing on, and reminding yourself of, an end goal and reason to keep going is such a positive and motivating strategy. Urges can feel really overwhelming in the moment but finding a way to work through them can re-set your thought and behaviour patterns which will hopefully mean the urges become less intense and frequent (as it sounds like you’ve noticed).
Your advice around appreciating the long term positives from not gambling vs the short term gain from gambling is great. The more benefits you experience from not having gambling in your life anymore, the easier it all becomes.
Hope you can keep us updated on your progress – it’s really inspiring.
All the best,
Claire
