Hi Carl. Glad you had a good weekend, must've felt good telling your friend. I feel kinda proud of the addiction now. Still wish I didn't have it ofcourse but now I'm beating it and living my life alongside it. I'm the same as you I no longer have to hide it because there's nothing to be ashamed of anymore, the time to be ashamed was then, when we were hiding and lieing. Now we're free and can live the life we want to, stand up proud of ourselves. Well done Carl, great to hear things are going well for you.

It was back to normal today after hectic weekend of abusing the body, so I missed yesterdays long run with my hangover

It meant I had to 10 miles after work, but i pushed myself hard and managed 12 miles so weekend didn't take too much out of me.

Apart from my running not a lot to say really

Just thanks for the comments and continued support

Hey Lovely George

Really good to speak to you in chat and for your continuing support.

I've gone back to George again now...apparently Phil Schofield eats guinea pigs according to the news yesterday so i've gone right off him ...me being a veggie and all that lol!

So George it is now!

Well done for doing all that running especially after a boozy weekend (which you so deserved to let your hair down)....really glad things are going well for you.

Keep it up...we are all right behind you.

Take care

Forwards not back

day 104

After chat last night I sat and watched the panorama programme and wanted to smash the tv up. When the reporter was asking the bloke questions he couldn't even give honest answers. And that reporter seemed as though she was mimicking gamblers.

Or maybe it was my imagination and I'm having off day cos that's sort of tricks this addiction plays on your mind.

I haven't gambled though and when I do feel the urge I will rewatch the panorama programme.

No gamblings the new gambling

Evening mate,

Seems like the Panorama program annoyed quite a few people! I'm a bit of a conspiracy theorist and in my opinion it was never going to be a true representation of the gambling issue in this country mainly because the government is doing pretty d**n well out of it!

They have been able to hide tobacco behind locked shutters because gambling industry has become their new income! All started when the Labour government under Mr Blair relaxed the gaming laws, it made gambling so much more accessible and more importantly acceptable! Once you make it acceptable it sucks people in more than anything cos we begin to chase that dream of a big win, that comfortable life!

There is a gambling pandemic in this country but it won't be acknowledged or accepted because it generates huge revenue! For me I'm resigned to this fact and I concentrate on my own recovery and supporting the good people on this site who are also committed to recovery and that includes you!!

Hopefully one day things will change but until then let us keep on and as you said mayb use program's like that as an extra help for us to not gamble!

Keep smiling buddy you and many others here are doing brilliant and that really matters!!

Thanks guys for your comments

I have spent the majority of this journey keeping myself busy and for once I got home from work and had nothing on and free house which now seems alien to me,that said I know what works for me and what I need to do.

Tomorrow is a new day

Hi Carl,

Hey mate glad to see you really doing well on both running and being gamble free good that you swapped a bad addiction to a good addiction really getting the positives out of being gamble free I like to see that and how far you have progressed in these 106 days is really inspiring to all those trying to give up gambling.

Thank you for all the comments on my wall and sorry it taking me so long to reply I have been working too hard and dunno the whole gambling thing I try to keep out of my head I don't like thinking about it but I will always come back to this site and keep in touch sometimes I just don't know what to say on my diary.

Keep in touch keep running and keep being gamble free,

Take care

Ricky 🙂
