Day 60

Dont tend to spend much time thinking about gambling at all anymore but shan't become too complacent.

Still got loads of debt but 'don't look backwards, you are not going that way' is a saying I'm keeping close to my heart at the moment.

Watching the tv makes me realise just how many gambling adverts there are. Shouldn't be allowed same way smoking adverts aren't allowed anymore.

Well done Dave keep it up! In a very similar boat to you with regards to not being unemployed and having a cracking family/friend unit, but being of a similar age and in a poor predicament. I'm 27 and still living at home, currently overdrawn and no savings or real assets. FOBTs dragged me in along with roulette in casinos and as such had 8k of bank loans - paying them back in set instalments on payday so it wasn't a horrible payday loan situation but still massively affecting my chances in life. Luckily parents paid them off in full and am now paying them back so there's security in case I get made redundant or something. Still relapsing but this time determined to stop.

Spot on with the betting ads, make me sick to my stomach. They don't tempt me (consciously anyway) but just anger me in how they are allowed to be so rife. Paul Merson even appears in one FFS a week after he came clean about a bad relapse on national TV!

With regards to hobbies to pursue, I have been going to the gym for some time now and it works wonders as you get the good feeling released but it also builds your confidence, makes you healthier, more attractive, the lot really. Maybe start peddling the weights if you don't already. Also just signed up for Netflix which is a boredom cue too hopefully.

Keep up the good work

74 days! It doesn't even feel like a chore anymore if I'm being honest. This is the longest I've been gf in a decade and I'm never going back now.

Hi r99c you've come to the right place if you don't want to gamble anymore. The advice on here really helps. What I'll say is buy the book (kindle or hardcopy) Allen Carr the easy way to quit gambling. Makes everything a lot easier.

Also keep it up with the weights buddy you will need the dopamine rush for a bit and it'll defo make you feel more confident. I'm heading back to gym Monday after a few weeks out- can't wait to be fair
