I will be brief with how i got addicted. Lost over 30000 in 3 weeks. I had the need to find money to pay for my wife's visa. That need let me slip to gambling a-lot of money and i ended up loosing 30 grand on credit and loans. I thought about killing my self take the easy exit  out. But the pain that would cause my family and the satisfaction to the gambling firms that they won kept me alive. Now unfortunately i have to keep up with all the payments. Its really hard, i wish those gambling firms that i spent my money would loaned me the money back with no interest on it but they are only happy to take your money. Im working 60 hours a week now with the risk of being paralysed doe to a back injury that i have. But I'm still going , trying to pay for my mistakes. I have taken responsibility and I'm paying for my debt, can barely afford to buy milk and bread after i pay all my loans but i manage to get some food from work every day to feed my family. Looking into getting another job as well because i don't want my family to pay for my mistakes.

Welcome to the Forum Atiredman,

I am really sorry to hear what you have been through, to reach the point where you considered killing yourself must have been a very scary place to be. I am so pleased to hear that you come through that period and have started to take steps to move forward.

Although it is good to hear that you’ve taken responsibility for the debt and you’re making the repayments, I do worry that you feel you may need to take on another job to provide for the family. As you mention you are already working 60 hours a week and in doing so putting your health at risk. I wonder whether you have looked at other solutions that may ease the situation you are in, whilst safeguarding your well being.

On our website you can find some information on finance and debt management including a list of organisations who can provide free, independent money advice.

It is evident that you are working hard to make amends but I really don’t want you to feel that you have to do this all alone. This forum is a great place for ongoing support and If you haven’t already I would also recommend that you give one of our Advisers a call on either our HelpLine on 0808 8020 133 or our NetLine.

We would welcome the opportunity to look at other support that may further benefit you.

Kind regards
