Thank you for sharing your story Mariah, I feel like I related to this a lot. I also got sucked in by the slots and didn't think I had a problem initially, until my first big win started making me put more money on and chasing losses since December. It gripped me quickly, started using overdraft, credit cards, loans etc (I had debts before but gambling definitely made them worse). I decided this week I had enough and finally blocked myself. Similar to yourself, I don't even feel the urge to gamble! Even though it was only 5 days ago, I feel like a completely different person and so relieved. I'm coming clean to my husband tomorrow about my debts and gambling. He has been in GA himself for 6 years so I'm hoping he is understanding.
Like yourself, I'm interested to learn about the why behind gambling. Is there any sites or books you'd recommend reading?
