Hi Post,

Good news about the new pad mate, and i'm sure your parents are fine about helping you out mate. You can repay them by getting back on ya feet without a gamble. On the ex front, I think that you need to follow your instincts and decide what's best for you and your kids.

I hope Green's howler made you chuckle pal. I can't say I was laughing very much!!

Stay Strong

Steve

Hi wp,

Following on from your thoughts I find where I live is a refuge a sanctuary from everything going on in my life. I felt v.hungover yesterday and it nice just to vege in doors even if it was wallowing in my own self-pity. I spent years living in a bedsit from hell. I just didn't want to spend any time there. So if i felt like cr** i went out anyway.. guess where I would end up??

I hope the move to new flat helps a bit. As for owing money to parents maybe pay them a regular token amount. Ive got a standing order for just a few quid to my dad thats run for years now. If he lives to 100 it might get close to paying everything i owe him. But the point being is that am trying to make amends.

Anyways thanks for your suupport on my diary.. S.A

Hi wp,

Glad to hear you are moving somewhere nicer, I can very much relate to living in a grotty place and it getting you down. I dont think the landlord has decorated our kitchen since the 80's lol.

Sorry you feel the rent you pay will be a waste, but I reckon it will be good for you to know where you are going to be for a set period of time. 6 months isn't so long, and your ex will probably need a while anyway to rebuild her trust in you. Perhaps also, it will give you time to rebuild your trust in yourself - so that if you do end up back together, you feel confident that you can keep up your change in lifestyle. Seems like it would be a lot of pressure so early in your recovery, to be living with someone who is still angry with you, and dealing with the pressure that if you slip up you have blown it.

Anyway, take care and hope this coming week is a good one for you.

Cheers,

f x

Hey wp,

Keep up your efforts in getting online to post here mate, you can see from the pages of replies since your last post the esteem you are held on here. I agree with what others have posted about the flat... if you can at all avoid it having somewhere decent to live is pretty important...my couch in front of the TV after a long hard day is my favourite place in the world!

The ups and downs of your relationship with the ex and your children can't be anything but a bad influence on the rest of your life, just keep chipping away at it and eventually the light at the end of the tunnel will appear.

All the best mate,

Ryan

Hi wp

Thanks for your nice comments on my last diary post. When I was writing about my days shopping, I thought this is not very interesting stuff and almost didnt bother to write it. Then thought that since it was significant to me I would just write it anyway. So it really pleased me that you enjoyed reading it. Just shows how powerful these diaries are and that they do help us all.

Hope you are having a good day. It's great how you take the time to encourage others while going through difficult times yourself.

Keep strong and be happy.

good thoughts

Lili 🙂 x

thank you my friends for your continued support..well appreciated as usual....today marks 6 months bet free for myself 🙂 here are some of my thoughts....i dont sit in the bookies all day and run across the road to use the free phone box after every race to get my next bet on.....i no longer spend my breaks from work in the bookies betting on anything,i'll tell you this much they were long and miserable nights going home....i no longer wake up in the morning looking for my next bet.its nice to just plan for the day ahead....i seem to have a little bit of my personality back and can enjoy a wee laugh every now and then, confidence and self esteem coming back....during my 6 months many diaries that have encouraged me in my early days have disappeared, for them i hope they read this and thank them sincerely hope their lives have changed for the better as we all know how difficult it is when starting a diary....curly and jeff youve been with me since day 1 so thanks to you as well.... to each and every 1 of you i cant thank you enough replying and supporting me dailly (will catch up wi you all later, bit pushed for time the now ) ..my debts are down to the late 60s now as opposed to most prob early 80s had i kept going the way i was ...i still have that betting slip from that day way back in december but it is fading away rapidly like my gambling (i hope)...to anyone new reading this dont feel afraid to start a diary.i have noticed many in the intros section but dont start a diary...it s only 6 month for me and its still by far a long long road ahead but i am slowly healing the wounds to which this illness can bring...today i wont bet tomorrow i wont bet,we can do this my friends 😉

Hey wp,6 months today,absolutely fantastic

achievememt,i am very pleased for you!!!,how your life has changed is (i know) remarkable.....,like me ,you still have many problems to solve before life is where we want it to be,we aren't making things even harder by compulsively gambling and wasting our valuable time day in day out though.Keep up the good work.

Awesome achievement wp. I'm so proud of you mate.

You are a really important person to me on here as you show me every day what i too can achieve with the right attitude. You are fond of referring to this as your battle and you are winning it hands down mate.

Always remember not to get complacent though. I saw an entry from Rigsby earlier commenting on how six months gamble free then led to six months of gambling. Never fall into the trap of thinking that one little bet will do no harm as we all know where that one little bet will lead.

I've put an entry on Jeff's diary about how i imagine him to look when i read his entries in his diary. My mental image of you is something like this..............

Close!?

Thanks for post,wp

I was expecting the poker to be suggested tonight, but since he blew all his money in bookies it didn't come up. Other problem instead - think I would have preferred a poker dilemma!

Going to have a long talk with him when he gets in tonight. I spoke on netline and that helped. Going to ask him to share more in the bill paying so I can see exactly how much money we have. He earns daily and I get paid into my bank monthly and that pays all the bills. Too much burden on me I think. Anyway, enough about me on your diary.

Hope things keep on the up for you

Take care and stay gamble free and happy

Lili x
