Thanks Dave and here I am checking in. So last Friday marked my 1st month of being bet free - and I feel great. Due to a family commitment I am unable to go to GA tomorrow night but I plan to read over my book just as a reminder. My finances are starting to fall into place as I now have a DMP and the creditors are all taken care of. My home life is the best its been in a long time and we are actually looking forward to a few days away from Saturday. Feeling good

Well I will consider myself still on the naughty list due to not checking in hahaha. I have now been bet free since friday 12th July and starting to reap the rewards - financially mentally and physically. So coming upto 2 months now. Still attending GA meetings every wednesday and find them a great help to just talk to like minded people about our shared (to use an over used term) journeys. Moving forward and loving life.

Sorry been a while again. Well big day today as today is my 90 days without a bet. Feel strong, feel positive, seem to have so much more time to spend with family and friends, financially sorted out - with the help of Step Change so all good in the hood

Thats great stuff sparky. Really glad to see your doing so well mate, enjoy all that spare time, make the most of it you deserve it. What sort of thing did step change do for ya, if you dont mind me asking, its just im in a whole load of debt and i'm trying to manage it all myself and i think i might be able to do that but maybe speaking to some experts might be an good idea for me. If you can give us some advice or anything that'd be great. Cheers.

Dave - contact them - if i can give you one piece of advice - contact them. They are brilliant. They run through everything with you - i had pay day loans, credit cards, personal loans. They take it all on board and you pay them one amount every month and they pay everyone else. Very easy people to talk to - im not sure if there is a private message facility on here but if you want to give me your email add I will gladly discuss it further. Do it mate - its a massive massive weight off your mind

Hi Sparky,

I feel so inspired by your thread, I have just read it all and feel I am at the same place you where in July.

I started my first GA meeting last week, not sure wheter it was the right time to go after having gambled all night the night before, however I went and hopefully now will never look back.

I see light at the end of the tunnel and if you read my diary will see other steps I have put in place to support my recovery.

Thank you for sharing this positive experience and absolutely well done.

Will watch your progress and wish you every success in your recovery.

Best wishes

Hope x

Thanks a lot for those words Dunc and Hopelass they really do mean a lot. I cannot stress what a massive help and support Step Change have been. Its a big step to take but once you have done it and got everything in place its a huge relief. My wife has been a tower of strength since i told her everything. In fact the other day we were driving along and i said how different things could of been if she had just thrown me out - darent really think of where I would of been now. I havent been to GA for 3 weeks due to work commitments but I will walk in there tomorrow night head held high and say those words - "my name is Marc, im a compulsive gambler and my last bet was Friday 12th July".
