Hello All,
Thankyou loxxie.
Day 11.
I am going to do overtime today. This month i am working for us and not the turfs.
We booked a weekend away for 1st April for 2 days as my wife needs a rest.
I'm going to focus on work. No thoughts of gambling. When i get paid and it's safe i might start to heal a bit. Time to move forward.
I wish everyone a gamble free day.
Paul.
Day 13,
Morning All. At the doctors. Not feeling 100% so just getting a check up.
I'm sure without gambling i will feel better in the future.
I got up early and made my wife scrambled eggs with mushrooms.
Can i just add. I have been to GA meetings. I spoke at the first meeting but listened at the second. I find it easier chatting 1 to 1 than in front of people. Im not sure about GA. I am sure i need to quit gambling though.
Good luck all.
Paul
Morning, Paul,
Hope all is well health wise, glad to see you moving forward re being gf.
re GA, I get that you're less than enamoured at this stage but it's worth persevering. Twelve Step programmes do work when worked with commitment. They work. They may make you uncomfortable at times, they ask you to make huge changes which don't come easily but the track record for people who live their lives day to day by the Twelve Step programme speaks for itself. I'm not saying that nothing else can work but the Twelve Steps do.
Best wishes,
CW
Agreed in a fashion with you there Paul but also keeping an open mind in what's going to help you, and the perseverance required is all that matters in tackling the madness of addictions
I trust the Dr's went ok and your not developing a croak....
Hello All,
Thanks Volcano hahaha that made me laugh. No croak at the minute just hopping mad lol
Paul
Hi Paul.
Very well done on the amount of days abstaining and the continuing path to recovery you are making. Considering where you were i am very pleased to read your updates.
Not all long term people rely on GA. It is one of the many tools available to you that can assist.
I wish you well
Hey Paul...glad to hear your doing so well mate....you do what you feel is best for you....we all will recover in different ways....xxxx
Hello All,

Hi Paul well done to you. Great to see you are on day 14 - wcid
Hi Paul,

Twinklyr x
Hi. Paul , great to see you focused again and some positivity shining through in your daily updates , really impressed buddy ! Have a great evening !
Nice one Paul. Keep doing what you are doing and enjoy your journey.
stay strong ... good work !
Hi Paul, i have kept up with your diary but never posted however feel the need to say a 'big well done' for reaching the 2 week mark. I'm the same as you, as in I prefer one to one counselling rather than group meetings such as GA. I'm currently reading some research papers on gambling and the main concensus is that most serious problem gamblers do not seek help and of those who do so through GA just under 60% will gamble again. However that's 40% who are successful. We are all individuals and we should embrace whatever helps us maintain and abstain. Carry on what you are doing as it is certainly working for you. Here's to the next 2 weeks and continued path of recovery.
Take care pal x
