DAY 200. The person I was 7 months ago wouldn't believe he could do that but with all the support I have had I have made it this far.

I saw this a few days ago and thought it summed up how I and many others out there should be feeling with the progress we are making.

The future you is looking back at the present you, thinking "I'm glad the tough times are in the past and I'm proud of how strong I was to get through"

I am proud of the progress I have made but also know full well that this will always be in the background waiting to catch me out if I drop my guard. No time for complacency just keep marching forward away from the bad times.

Stay strong out there!

Well that was short lived. Was really pleased this morning to get back to the gym after 10 months what with lockdown and broken collar bone. Now Boris has shut everything down again, rightly so in my opinion, so back to being a couch potato!

Hi bladesman, ? good news on the shoulder but not on the lack of gym??. Well could be worse as long as we are safe and well and as you said Boris had no choice, we have been in lockdown since 22nd December in Wales. Hope the vaccine makes a difference...whenever we get it.!! Don't know about you but some of the posts on here are getting  a bit over the top I'm all for helping of course but it's like information overload !! The author of that book is the guy who works with Ronnie  O'Sullivan seems people either love it or hate it reviews lots of 1 star and lots of 5 stars !!. Anyway we are doing good bladesman 7 months I'm happy with the way recovery is going the gambling demon is never coming close again. Take care and I hope you can get back to the gym soon

Day 247, nothing significant but haven't posted anything since new year as not really felt like expressing my feelings. This latest lockdown has been worse than the others I think because of the time of the year, January always seems to be a miserable month. Still been reading other posts and recently I think there has been a few posts blaming gambling companies for allowing people to use their sites and get into trouble. What I have learned in the last 8 months is to take responsibility for my actions as no one forced me down the road I took. Only my opinion so feel free to disagree.

It has been a very sad time as we suffered a big blow 2 weeks ago when my father in law died suddenly which was a big shock to us all. He was 84 but generally ok so wasn't expected. What makes it harder is my mum in law has alzheimers so need to sort out some care urgently for her.

I have written previously about my resolve being tested by various events but this beats them all, but thankfully there are no urges to retreat into gambling like in the dark days now over 8 months ago. Life throws up many challenges and we just need to work our way through them.

The main thing for me is to stay positive about the future and hope that we can come through all these things. I saw this the other day and thought how it sums up how I feel

"Staying positive doesn't mean you have to be happy all the time. It means that even on hard days you know that there are better ones coming"

Spring is on the way and the vaccine is rolling out so hopefully we may get back to some normality in the next few months.

Stay strong out there!

Hi bladesman, so sorry to hear about your dad in law 84years is a fab age but as far as you and your family is concerned it's a very sad loss and now you have a mum in law with Alzheimer's that's never easy. The positive is you're dealing with it a year ago both of us in that situation would of gone on a gambling binge but we now know it's not the answer and never will be. Just shows our skewed our minds were, bad things happening trigger thoughts for me but my barriers give me confidence and I am dealing with thoughts much easier these days which I'm grateful for. Yes I agree this lockdown through winter has been more testing my son has struggled bless him without seeing his mates. I think this has been very tough for young people they haven't been able to be young going out meeting the opposite s*x etc. Hopefully we will see a change by spring we need to dig deep stay positive. Like yourself I read a lot but don't post as much I think it's because we are not as needy as we were ! I read every day at least twice so I'm always here if you need a chat. Take care bladesman

Here I am 300 days gamble free today. Feel proud to have got this far as would never have believed I could do it last year. Many ups and downs along the way as previously posted but the ups are certainly winning these days. My wife asked me yesterday if I have had any urges to gamble lately with all thats being going on and I could honestly say NO without hestation. Feels really good to look back at how far I have progressed but know full well the journey away from gambling will continue, so no complacency.

Looking back to when I was found, for a long time I used to think I was a really bad person for what I had done and the heartache I have caused, but with time I now feel I am still a good person who did a really bad thing. This will always be with me but I won't let it define who I am any longer.

On the plus side, the gyms reopen next week so time to get some fitness back and lose a bit of weight. I really do find that exercise helps my mental health so can't wait to get back there. Only light exercise though as collar bone still healing.

To anyone out there whether just starting out or well on in their recovery stay positive and look forward to the days ahead gamble free.

Stay strong 🙂
