So here I am...6 months gamble free. I can't quite believe how much my life has changed for the better. I used to check this forum daily but now not so much. However, I thought it was only right to come back to hopefully help others. My journey started with the odd flutter on Bingo and then I found online slots...a year or so later and thousands of pounds worth of debt the only way I saw out was to end it all. It all came to a head when all of my outgoings (loans, payday loans and credit cards) wouldn't be covered by my wages. I finally broke down and told my partner. Luckily, he was the most supportive and understand person (which was almost worse) and said we will sort this. He could have paid all my debt off with his savings however he wanted me to learn the hard way. I've been on a debt management plan now for 5 months and I will be completely debt free in November 2021. This is something I never thought I would see. I've not come on here to gloat- because like everyone on here I was wrapped up in the gambling world and bright colours they bring. I've come on here to say however hard things seem that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. There is a way back up from rock bottom. Yes I still have urges, yes I believe that I am fixed now and capable of putting on a tenner and walking away. But I know I'm not. I know I can never gamble again. Gamstop has stopped it for next 5 years but I won't be going near it again. Saying no to gambling was the best decision I've ever made even though it was so tough to start with. I finally feel free and like life can be good again. Gambling used to make me happy but I've found other things to fill that void. I'm here if anyone needs to talk/ask questions or advice. We're all in this together and can beat this. Sorry for the long post...it's been a while. All my love x
