Today I stop.

I've been gambling since I was 18 this has had some ups and downs along the way.

Been in debt and got myself out of debt numerous times!

Its always been more downs than ups and it's always been slots.

This year I had a bad time of things and started again in February actually won a load of times set up a business with it.

Then won again in march.

I thought that would be it but it took me down a path been earning well. But I started hitting arcades and bookies moneys gone. I'm up to date with everything but yesterday I blew a silly amount and the day before £3000 all in all which I had won most of the day befor that. Made plans with the money I'll do this and do that. But obviously as a gambler thought I'd win more (subconiously knew I wouldn't.

My life's moving in the right way and this disease is the only thing holding me back.

So today I stop.

My gf knows I like it but not the extent and she's talking of moving in.

I managed to defeat my drinking addiction 3 years in Jan cold turkey and this addiction will hopefully be no different.

I love slots

But they gotta go!

Onwards and upwards

Hello Scott P

Thank you for sharing your story and experiences so openly. It sounds like you've been through a lot since you  started gambling, and I can hear the ups and downs you've had along the way.

It sounds like you are really determined to change and know your future life goals can be reached without the gambling. Great to hear how well you have done with the drinking; hopefully this will give you further proof that you can do this!

Hope you can keep updating your recovery diary and if you ever wanted to have a chat with us, you can call us on 0808 8020 133 or contact our 1:1 Livechat - both are open 24 hours every day.

All the best,

Ellen
