Hi Irene

Good to speak to you in chat. You are so right, they have to want help and want to stop themselves. Sounds like you are doing all you can and offering support and advice to your friend. Lets hope they take that first step and start following you down the same path, 19 weeks is fantastic.

Must be very difficult for you watching your friend take the path she is when you see so much damage on here. Let's hope she reads some of the diaries and it motivates her to stop.

She is lucky to have such a good friend who is concerned about her.

Day 134

A quick post. Great Nephew visiting-home from uni for easter. Besties doing ok. Family stuffs caused some strife with me and sis-finding it hard to bite my tongue when I just want to let rip- prob best if I stay back tomorrow and let them do what they think is for the best.

Gamble free!

Hey Irene

Sorry to hear about your family strife at the min. Maybe a nice natter/let off steam on chit chat may do you good.

In the past, I have "let rip" with my tongue! I now know (50 years later) that it can be good to bite your tongue/hold back - although at the time, it can be quite frustrating!!

Well done however, on your main goal - remaining gamble free.

Take care.

Morning Irene,

Many thanks for your posts. I have found words hard to come by lately. I guess just a simple Hello would be enough though so I apologise for lack of recent activity. It warms me to see you still gamble free. I do run with first impressions rightly or wrongly but on first impression I thought you were determined and in this for the long haul. It's lovely to be right!

I think staying bet free allows us to look at the important things in life with greater clarity. Good or bad you now have that clarity and credit to you.

Keep smiling my friend,

Flagg

Day 135

I laughed at Flagg's comment- reading my initial posts, my first impression wouldve been "o*g she sounds like a nutter" 🙂 Actually, my diary's littered with nutter postings by me! However, I'm so glad someones got faith in me 🙂

Today Ive been troubled by some urges- just niggles. Think its due to the fact that I'm skint-counting the pennies skint! Usually, I'd be using plastic to cope if I'd overspent- cant do that now 🙁 I've made some moves to reduce outgoings now that son's gone- applied for council tax reduction, cancelled sky and downgraded phone package, so I should notice a difference next month.

Been off work this week, kept busy cleaning and painting son's room (now my spare room!). Only had white paint leftover so now its like an operating theatre!!!

I'm not the tidiest painter- looked like it'd been snowing indoors too 🙂

He came to visit- 2nd day in a row- methinks he's missing his mammy a wee bit!

I did pop round to my sister's earlier- I managed not to poke my nose in (though it was tough!!!) so we're back on an even keel.

Was out walking with Paddy earlier this evening- a crisp, clear night- gorgeous, and the moon was so bright and clear....funny the wee things we notice.

I plan to chit chat and catch up with others' diaries tonight.

Hey Irene ...

The moon is so bright isn't it ...like white bright! ...so days it's yellowy but tonight ..whooohoo..

Laughed at you saying your a nutter..glad to know I'm in good company ...I always have time to be on here amd with folks ive met on here....it's just my 3d life I find limiting Hun...think I've outgrown my tank ..

But ...new horizons and like you I've also got no distractions now as my money is so tight ..can't buy my way out of feeling with mood altering spending..

maybe rent a room? lol...i know it's early days but check out spareroom.com...unless of course your son plans to have 2 residences ..like HRH herself ..lol

Hi Irene.

Was going to go on chat but I've been on last few times see if you wr on and thought I would leave it tonight! Sods law. Had a good catch up with Stubbsy on Fri - there was only me and him on there and no Gamcare staff!! So it was nice to have just the one discussion so to speak. Will you be available tomorrow day for chat? It's often much less busy. Last week, I had it all to myself for one day!!

Take care and hopefully speak very soon.

Yeah know what ya mean about cutting out where ya can to save a dime. Think I trimmed all that I can for those unnecessary frills and still dont seem to be enough. Lol dont have that plastic either which is a big plus since we aint adding to what we cant afford any way.

Hope your cleaning streak is going better than mine and guess I just wanna be done with it. Lol
