My partner gambled again over Christmas. It always happens around this time of year, he didn't tell me until yesterday and I hate that he's lied and been pretending it's all OK. The money was going towards a trip in Feb. I've told my boss and had a day off to process everything. I want him to go to a GA meeting but he says they don't work. None of our friends know how much of a financial hole we are in. I feel alone, like the trust we have is just breaking in front of me and I don't know what to do anymore. He's a veteran with CPTSD and uses gambling to cope, currently going through therapy which I thought was helping. Just feel lost and very lonely.
Hi,
sorry to hear your feeling alone. Sorry to hear he won’t go to gamcare.
You’r not alone.Â
I’m a gambler unfortunately.Â
Can you take control of the finances?
All the best,
Lucy
Hi @682o4k3hyx thank you for sharing your experiences and I can understand why you feel lost and very lonely, after discovering that your partner has been lying to you and not being able to discuss the real impact of the gambling harms you are currently facing with your friends.
There is support available for both you and your partner via GamCare Armed Forces Team and there is also a post on this forum from that team.
You can also access support for yourself as someone who is affected by gambling harms please see this link for more information: Armed Forces Project - GamCare
You have taken a very positive and brave step in reaching out for support and I wish you both all the best for the future.
Best wishesÂ

It's worth looking at different GA meetings and finding one that fits. There are also online meetings 24/7 which you can access on the website gamblers in recovery
GA had helped me so much
@lp5vut869c Thank you so much for the advice, will check them out 🙂
@0s5l8jyxu7 Thank you for replying, with finances only to a point, we don't have any shared accounts but rely on his income alongside my own for the bills etc.
