Today marks my 170th day gamble free, nearing half a year.

As I always say the hardest part is day 1 & then living with the financial ruin and guilt that I am riddled with.

Thanks to you guys I remain dedicated and determined to reach my goal of being debt free in a couple of years time. It is a long painful road ahead of over £1000 a month on credit card and loan repayments.

In many ways I am wishing my life away to try and fast forward 2 years. I crave for this 10 year addiction and debt to be over with.

Thank you.

Good evening

Well done on your 170 days!! Im a little behind you at 157 days.

I dont think you will ever get over the guilt. I know I wont. I guess you just learn to live with it.

Keep posting here, others advice and words truly touch me. Ive been struggling tonight and ive posted.

Dont wish your life away! £1000 is a lot! Surely there must be a another way to reduce the debt so you can have a life. No point in punishing yourself continually. Have you spoken to stepchange? They're great and free.

Good luck and all the best.🥰

@xj0biw2zva Stepchange is not an option. I can’t have an IVA hanging over me for 5 years and a terrible credit score.
I have a goal in place to smash it for the next 2 years on payments.

I got myself into this mess, I need to get myself out of it.

Hi King,

Glad to hear you are still on track. I stopped at a similar time to you — I would be approaching 150 days, but unfortunately, I’ve had a recent relapse which has made things significantly worse. I’m probably now in a similar position to yourself, debt-wise — paying around £800 a month for the next 2 years.

Can I ask what techniques you have used to abstain from gambling, and how you’re coping with living life alongside recovery? This is something that led me back to gambling, as I just couldn’t think long-term enough.
