Gambling 15 years...wasted time and money through this addiction. Started small..lost all savings and in debt. Its time to finally say kcuf off to this horrible addiction that just rots a person to the core.
Ive had enough...more than enough. Please god this is last day of gambling

Welcome Peter,

Have you put any practical measures in place i.e. Blocks?

Have you thought about going to your local ga meeting and or counselling, there's plenty of options that will assist you in your days of need right now use as many as you feel you need, what's your story? What is it you gamble on ?

Thanks for your reply. Horses my big thing but you cannot name a sport i havent bet on!! Only good thing was..machines or casino never interested me really. Well its saturday...very hard day to start and have a little money left but determined not to bet. Have been to GA in past and worked very well...done a year...done 6 months at least twice. Fell 4-5 times but in 4 years...relatively good experience. Never tried counselling...perhaps sceptical/afraid but i hear they offer it here on this site?

Hi Peter,

Yes they do counselling on the site it's a free ten sessions there's face to face counselling or online.

You've had some varying success by the looks of it then. If ga worked well maybe think about going back?

Yeah mostly a success. But i left it last time and that was around 2 years ago...and i never maintained contact with the guys and basically forgot about the whole thing...due to going back to gambling of course. Did you try the counselling deano? Or ga? Or what way are you now?

I'm just under 7 months bet free now, prior to that I had 3 days where I gambled in the last 18 months. I haven't had counselling although many members have sworn by it. I guess in the 18 or so months I've been on gamcare I've pretty much posted every day and been to most nightly chats. That seems to be enough for me. Reading and posting keeps me in touch with the emotions I had when i arrived. I gambled for around 20 years slot machines was my vice packed those in got addicted to scratch cards and then back again to machines as you'll know it's a continuing cycle you can stop one start another. Although I've lost vast amounts it was over a longer period. Never really a big stake gambler. It was more reliving the bordem of general day to day life I was trying to get away from

Well done..you've done very very well and i hope i can reach 7months or longer as u have. We have completely different vices but same results/feelings. Just get through an hour at a time is my aim for today. I find first few days hardest but after that is easier. And a gambler can always get cash...there are many ways.
