If you are looking for help to stop gambling, accept as much help as you can.

A good starting point might be to ring Gamcare and run through the options. Last thing you want to do is close any doors for recovery

Secondly and if you're still struggling, don't discount Gamblers Anonymous. Look on their web page if interested

One of the other recommendations I might make is to look at the Family and Friends section. Its good to understand things from our families / partners / loved ones perspectives. Look out for cynical wife and half life's posts in particular

This sounds helpful. Might see you there.

Ahead of World Suicide Prevention Day this year, we are hosting a one-off chatroom with Maytree (www.maytree.org.uk) to give information, advice and support to anyone who has experienced suicidal thoughts or feelings because of their gambling behaviour, or who is seeking support for someone close to them because of an issue with gambling - including parents unsure about how to support their loved ones.

This will take place during our daytime chatroom on Friday 9th September, from 2pm- 3pm. We encourage participants to share their experiences and support others, with guidance from our moderator, a trained GamCare counsellor and a member of the Maytree team.

If it’s your first time in chat, you just need to log into the forum as normal, go to www.gamcare.org.uk/chat and click on the room to log in automatically. For more information on our chatrooms see http://www.gamcare.org.uk/chatroom

Don't forget the samaritans. They are excellent for that 1st emergency call.
