I am committed to stay stopped first day not gambling, still waited for 12am for money to go into account , when I use to start gambling. Feel uncomfortable not relaxed, can't enjoy telly, it's bearable not not nice. I have used gamban this is helping me guess I have to go through the feelings and know they will pass. Grateful I have somewhere to express myself and be understood.

Hello and Welcome.

I hope you can express your feelings to people close because you need to use your time to talk to non gamblers and learn about the addiction.

You need reality check after reality check as it slowly dawns on you that it was all a waste of time and money from the start

Its a drug addiction more than anything so you have to do the cold turkey in dismissing the urges.

Please protect your money and dont leave anything vulnetable. If you think that sounds awkward you have much to learn

Ideally the bulk of your money should be looked after and you live on an allowance. it helps you heal and you cant do yourself any real damage.

Its positivity for a lifetime we are talking about..... the addiction can come back if you take the healing lightly.

Having said that you will heal because you will see the light and will associate gambling with just pain..... so why would you do it

You know in your heart its not an income scheme or a get it back scheme.

Its a vice and a mental illness. it often starts with people seeking escape or respite from core illnesses like depression and anxiety

Try to do more than just watching the telly. A GA meeting would focus your mind and give you a purpose..... look for purpose in your life.... helping others etc

You will get through this but it takes time and stages of building your self respect and peace of mind

Best wishes from everyone on the forum

Yes.  Welcome to the forum.  I just want to welcome you and say that I believe in you. You need to find something else in your life.  If you are like me, gambling ate up huge chunks of my time.  Exercise, reading (to learn about addiction and gambling addiction specifically).  Reconnecting with friends who aren’t associated with gambling.  I have a lot of social anxiety, so public forums aren’t often good for me.  I really like this site and the people here.

I have found two old addiction mantras to be very much true in my case:

You have to want/be ready to quit.

One day at a time.

Take care,

Greg

Same here, lost £880 in under an hour on slots this morning! That’s my full months pay lost. I’m truly devastated but these urges are so much stronger than my willpower! My last and final bet was a swap of a whole big chunk of money for 20 free spins and the lose section was about 2% and that’s exactly where the random trigger landed. I’d call it corruption, others bad luck. We are all struggling but I’m 100% sure there’s better times around the corner for us all. DON’T LET THAT URGE WIN!!! Much love to the original poster x

@timeforchange22 Ouch. Thats how they designed these machines. I used to work for l*******s and coral in their head office. We have good customers (losing money). And the bad customers (making profit)

Good customers are treated like royalty with 'rewards'

Yeah, there’s a new slots place opened in my town. They give you free drinks, snacks etc while playing! The level of customer service is great!! Pity the games are shockingly bad. Any gamble even looking like it’s 98% in your favour on the pie chart goes wrong!!! I think that the £2 max gamble was the worst thing to ever happen! The ultra spins can have you go through over £200 without ever getting out the base game!!!! It’s incredible!!! DON’T LET URGES WIN!!! To gamble is to LOSE!
