Hi there, I'm new to all this. I am 30 and have been gambling since my mid teens. I've made some really big mistakes and I had to tell my girlfriend recently about my problem. She has been great so far. I am attending my first GA meeting on Monday, feeling very nervous, but glad to be making this first step.

Hi Townshendmoon

Welcome to the forum and well done for posting. You will find a lot of support here and a community of people who understand your struggle with gambling please keep reading and posting on the forum.

You have taken a big step admitting your problem to your girlfriend and it is great that she has been supportive. Attending a GA meeting is also a very positive step and shows that you are ready to take action to overcome your gambling problems.

You are also welcome to call our helpline and talk things through with a GamCare adviser on 0808 8020 133 or on our netline. The advisers can provide emotional support and helpful information as well as facilitate a referral to free one to one counselling appointments if you’d like to access that service.

Best wishes

Rachel.
