Hi Amanda, You are not foolish, put it down to a bad experience and move on with your life. Put the blocking devices in place to stop yourself from falling in the trap. Been there got the t-shirt, over £70K gone in winnings, but i was foolish enough to then get in debt to over £55K. Please stop now whilst it is only winnings you have lost and not got into any debt. That is how they catch you out. You are getting the bug as i call it (chasing losses) Believe me when I say it cant and does'nt work. Have tried for the last 7 years and have got massively in debt and am on the verge of losing my business I have took 15 years building, working stupid hours, not spending time with my daughters etc earning money that is then gambled. It never ends chasing losses, stop gambling now whilst you have only lost your winnings. If you won a 100 grand today would it make any difference. You would in most likelyhood try and win more and lose the lot.

I am on day 2 of my journey, i appreciate it is going to be a long and hard road but I have to do it for me and my family. It was getting to the point where i could'nt take anymore so i decided to man up and fight this addiction before i became another victim.

Please use this forum, read and post if you feel you want to, I am overwhelmed by the amount of support i've received since my first post yesterday. You are not judged here because we are all in the same fight. Good luck.

Al

Thank you for your reply, i have a about 10 grand of debt, most of it government fault when they didnt amend housing benefit etc even though they had all changes in circumstance, i think thats what set me off as they want more than i can afford to repay per month, so when i get mail from them etc it panics me to try and get money, i promised myself iwould use the new year to stop, but it isnt very succesfull 🙁 but will keep on here for support, once again thank you for your reply

Hello Anon-me. I too had won 20k in one night. I wind up losing that 20k and losing another 60k over a period of 3 months. The worst thing I think that can happen to any gambler is for them to win. You are better off in the beginning losing and continue losing, as you start to tell yourself this really sucks! And then hopefully not want to ever gamble. Unfortunately, that was not the case for me. I won, then start fantasizing of all the things I can do with future winnings. Pay off my home, buy new car for my wife, etc, etc. As we all know that is not how it turns out. More realisticly, it turns into depresssion and lack of sleep. I haven't gambled since the 24th of December, but I worry that I will fail and gamble again. Maybe the worry will keep me on gaurd to not gamble. I don't know. Time will tell. In either case, if you have any money left, as a suggestion, give it to your partner and tell yourself you gambled it away. At least she will appreciate the money more then the casinos. Then everytime you want to gamble, give the money to a homeless person or food shelter, they will also appreciate the money more then the casinos. Just some thoughts going thru my head. Sorry to ramble, but I do wish you luck. Regards.

Hi Anon-me, I'm insomniac tonight too - my mind has got into the habit of racing (or should i say chasing) this time of night. I haven't gambled tonight but probably because I lost everything I had plus a bit more last night so there is nothing left. Mine is a slots addiction too, keep on gambling 'just another...' could be 25, could be 50, could be 100 depends on if it is close to pay day. I then wake up the following morning with the same empty sick feeling realising I have lost another 200 or 300 or more. No more. This is it this time. I haven't been able to pay my rent this month and I couldn't feel worse if someone threw me off a cliff. So, final straw reached, I refuse to feel like this again. Don't go back on tonight, better still email them requesting self exclusion. The email address for most is support@ etc Good luck Anon-me. I feel your pain but the thing about getting worse is that it means there is also a getting better, surely?

Hi Amanda and welcome! The start of the New Year, holidays, family those positive things has has to keep you away ftom the online slots. I have been there as well ( up to this day after 10 years of gambling, I have no idea how much I won or lost - but I don't care because I WANT TO STOP), it's a hard roa,d ahead but you have to stay strong. I have learn that I will nevr get those money back, and I have learn that chasing your losses isn't the solution. The solution is to STOP NOW! Good luck and keep your head up!

Hiya and thanks for your replies, i was tempted to have another go but didn't, i dont sleep well anymore, always worried, miserable and not the happy go lucky person i used to be unless i had a win, but what i find now is i NEVER keep it always withdraw winnings and then reverse it back, bit by bit until its all gone, then panic and try to win back loses, so im going to and face it day by day, cant face partner at moment as i know he will be angry if he know.

Same as that! I was 250 up last night (Friday night) on only a 10 deposit, ended up reversing the lot and depositing another 140. Madness, complete madness. I've started to notice my heart beating (if you know what I mean?!) too, panicking about bills not being paid etc. It's like a form of self torture isn't it? Good luck Amanda, I'm with you in spirit! I'm going to have another go at sleeping now so night, night 🙂

Night times seem to be the worst time for me, as I find it the only time of the day I have nothing to do and time to think. I'll drive to a 24 hour store when the urge gets to bad and pick up something for the house, like paper plates, or trash bags, just to kill time. I figure its something I can use, and whatever money I spent going to the store and on what I purchased was way cheaper then the bets I would have made.
