Hi all

just joined tonight, I first went to GA about 12 years ago, stayed clean for 2/3 years then dabbled my hand back in to gambling where was maybe 7 years i was structured with it and never went into debt etc but then maybe 12-14 months ago i went back on online went tonto, god knows why I don’t look to blame anyone bar myself, I self excluded via gam stop which is an unbelievable great tool, now im seeing non gamstop stop sites everywhere and where I have joined up and had a bet it’s not been a disaster yet but I feel it’s very close to a disaster,

does Gam ban block these offshore sites? The thought of installing a VPN or a program gives me the fear but if someone can confirm it works and stops me this will be installed thanks

Hi Dav

Gamban is a life changer. You have a lot of experience of staying away but thank goodness the technology has changed over the last 12 years. The blocks have really helped me. I gambled for 44 years pretty much non stop and gave up 8 weeks ago which I never thought I would do. When I look back I can see so many rock bottoms and it worries me that gamblers don't realise the rock bottoms get worse and worse and worse over the years. I can only talk from my own view but I am not capable of being sensible. I had to give up or go insane.

Gamban blocks all gambling sites around the world. If you come across one that doesn't get blocked you can report them. It's also good for keeping a counter on the number of days GF, number of hours saved away from gambling and the approx amount of money saved depending on what parameters you upload. It's worth putting this on all your devices and if you have any problems there is a helpline. There is nothing to worry about, they have been running for 10 years and was developed by a compulsive gambler called Matt Zarb-Cousins who campaigns to government. You can download it for free from here or Gamstop.

I also registered with MOSES to exclude from Bookmakers and SENSE for Casinos. There are other systems to exclude from arcades, motorway service arcades, park holidays and bingo halls.

Have you blocked your card at the bank from gambling establishments ? There are always ways around all of these but the way I see it, if I get an urge I instantly think I can't gamble because of the above. Yes I could get around it but it would probably take at least a day by which time the urge has gone.

The chatrooms on here are fantastic. The 8pm one each night is very good and has helped me a lot
