Hi, I'm William, more commonly referred to through my nickname 'Billy'. I've always had a thing for gambling, whether it'd be card games, bar bets, soccer games, online games of chance. I've done it all and none has worked out for me. I like to blame my genetics for this. My dad was a huge gambler and a large contributor to online casinos like ******. He was very experienced in the gambling industry, sadly he passed away almost 7 years ago. My mother also gambles, through card games with her friends, and I always admired her and watched her play. Anyways, recently I've been gambling online, through a game of 'coinflip'. We bet virtual items that have values of hundreds of thousands of dollars, and you buy them for money through other people or stores. I started with $10,000 in my PayPal; money inherited from my grandfather. This money I'm supposed to use next year for living expenses throughout my stay in New York during my college years. Did I mention I was 17? I'm supposed to fly from Bangkok to New York, with all that money and live off of it. Anyways I've been losing more and more money, and I have $4,500 left. I'm just wondering what I can do from here on. I really want to make my money back, but my efforts ultimately end up failures. I don't have the guts to tell my mum, or my sisters waiting for me abroad. My mum has already been sceptical, as she wanted me to withdraw the money into my bank account, but I kept telling her it's going through the process and we just have to wait. Please give me some advice, I'm lost...
Morning Billy,
My advice would be to admit what has happened before the rest of the money goes the same way.
I thought i always did enough to cover my tracks but the lies caught up with me eventually.
Now i am honest, have no need to lie and moving on without the gambling millstone around my neck.
Best wishes
Dear willbkk,
Thank you for taking the step to post on the GamCare forum. It's certainly worrying that you are gambling so heavily at such a young age.
For most kinds of online gambling, there are methods such as self-exclusion and blocking software which can help prevent you accessing the sites. However, it sounds like you are gambling on something unregulated like CS:GO skins is that right? If you are, that makes it more difficult as they don't have self-exclusion processes in place and may not be picked up by blocking software. However, you could give it a try - there's more information on our website:

Bal has given you some good advice there. It is important that you seek help, which could be from your parents and/or from professional sources. It sounds like you are based in Thailand and hoping to move to the US. I don't know what gambling support is available in Thailand but in the US you can contact the National Problem Gambling Helpline http://www.ncpgambling.org/help-treatment/national-helpline-1-800-522-4700/.
In the meantime, keep posting and maybe consider joining one of our online chat sessions if your timezone allows. It's got to be better than sitting up gambling all night.
Take care
