Hi everyone, I am new to this forum. I have been gambling for the last 15 years and have lost tens of thousands of pounds during that time. I tend to bet online mainly on football matches. I do not seem able to stop no matter how hard I try. It is so frustrating. I have built up a huge amount of debt and It never seems to reduce as I just gamble away any money I have instead of paying it off. I feel like I am just treading water in life and never moving forward due to my addiction. I have tried giving up gambling before but never succeeded for more than about a week. I am hoping that this time with the help of this forum I will manage to give up gambling and get my life back.

Chris,

I know your pain. I think the best thing to do is firstly be honest about it, which you have been here. The first part of all of this is accepting the facts. The second part would be to speak to a trained professional and seek proper advice - NHS, Gamcare, helplines, psychologists - trained professionals who can help support properly (I am not a trained professional, but am aware gambling is associated with a psychological profile disorder). Lastly, well done you for stepping forward and wanting to take ownership.

I have a question for you. I have a brother with a gambling addiction. What advice would you give me, in how I can support him? I am trying so hard, but do not know how to do this, and think your support could help me.

Thanks,

Mikey

Hello folks, to help stop gambling online stick K9 software on your computers and phone - http://www1.k9webprotection.com/

Get someone you know to set up the admin account so you never know the password. Then relax as the pressure to gamble has been taken off you. Get a diary going in the diary board (further down the list of boards) and breathe....take one day at a time.

Mikey - be that admin for your brothers K9 account. He won't be able to gamble or view any betting sites online. Stick it on his phone too.

Good luck,

Hi Chris,

How's it going? I'm six days now without any online gambling and I'm seeing glimmers of hope.
