Hi everyone I have been commenting on other people's story's for some time now and now I'm going to tell you my story. I (was) a obsessive compulsive gambler who over the years has gambled on everything from slots to roulette lottery and scratchcards even cartoon racing. I'm not a bad person I'm actually far from it I'm the kind of person who always has time to help people. But when that knot comes in the stomach i no not even the devil himself would stop me from gambling it's like being taken over by someone and watching yourself from afar losing it all before you realise what a d##k you have been. That sense of guilt not able to look any one in the eye and tell them what's going on waiting with baited breath for the sound of the letter box going so you can get those little Red letters from the places you have taken money from and can't pay back so no one finds out you all no that feeling some more than others this year I finally sorted my self out I hit my rock bottom I will go in to that some other time. I'll cut off now as your probably getting bored and will write more on my experiences and how I stopped gambling as the weeks go on. For all those out there who are reading this feeling helpless and lonely you are not alone we share each others pain. Good luck and look forward to hearing from you all

Hi suzy i did a little research on gambling addiction on the Internet and what I came up with was what I was suffering was basically adrenaline addiction. That feeling you get when you have the urge to gamble is chemicals being released by your brain so on that I basically tried training my brain to think differently about my urge and I did a couple of hours of hypnotherapy I used a YouTube video i now don't get no urge to gamble I'm actually quite comfortable with it I can go past slot houses and even stand at the door with money in my pocket and not enter. I no it might sound a bit daft but it works for me and that's all I need I hope this helps you what's the harm in trying right

Hi Thomas,

I did 2 hypnotherapy sessions and found them brilliant. The way I look at it is one set of brain experts lure us in with the graphics on slots etc. and another set of brain experts help us undo the damage.

Hypnotherapy is definitely the way forward.

I listen to the cd regularly to reinforce it in my brain . It is brain training . Nothing daft about that!

Daft was throwing money into slots.

If your mind is open to hypnotherapy , then it works.

I listened to one from you tube ... Manchester accent maybe .... I thought it was great .

Definitely agree with you on that!

Take care,

Suzy

Yes I think that was the one I listened to slightly drowning lol yes I did a lot of research into it like the key in the music they use on slot machines ie the e in music it makes you more comfortable it's the same one they use in elevator music the stuff you can find on the Internet about how they trick you like no windows so you have no sense of time and feeding you are all ways of stopping you leaving the establishment. I'm glad I'm out of it now I'm hoping by posting on here I will be able to help others and try to help them see they can beat it. It just takes a little work good luck suzy I hope you stay gamble free
