Hello, I've just signed up,  exclusion for 5 years and installed gamban on my phone. Fingers crossed this works. I really really need to stop. I have just spent my entire wage in the space of an hour and feel so sick. I have an amazing husband, great job and from the outside a perfect life.  But the gambling is getting worse to a point where I'm struggling to hide it from my husband. I know that if I told him he would be the most supportive guy in the world but I dont want to disappoint him. Anyway I'm trying to do it on my own so here it goes.

Hi good luck your situation sounds a little similar to mine. I was always gambling what I could afford until this month when I spent all my wages. What a pickle I've got myself in but I've powered on and been gambling free since morning of 9th October its hard but I've started councilling and have told my partner everything despite the shame and feeling sick and scared he's gonna leave he has been a super star ?

Hiya, thank you for your encouragement. I told my best friend and my sister last night.  My sister knew I liked to bet on stuff but didn't realise how out of control it had become. They were both very understanding and supportive. If I get tempted I have to ring either one of them for a reality check.  I've also downloaded my bank statements and highlighted all the money I've wasted ( i literally could be in the Bahamas right now) the weirdest thing is waking up this morning and not playing all the daily free games. Instead I chatted to my husband while we had breakfast together.  Not only does gambling waste money it wastes time. I'm sure I have a long way to go but I can do this!

Dear Sparkles810,

Thank you for your post and welcome to Gam Care.

We know it isn't always easy to reach out for support so well done for making these first steps.

It sounds like you have already put some strategies in to place registering with Gam Stop and Gam Ban; both really excellent first steps.

I'm sorry to hear that none the less you have spent your wages; you may wish to consider a bank account that blocks gambling transactions for the future. In our experience unless it can be proven that a gambling company has acted irresponsibly, it is unlikely that a refund will be granted.

If you would like any further advice or support please do feel free to contact us on our netline or the helpline on 0808 8020 133 which are now open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

Wishing you all the very best,

Forum Admin

Michael,

I have thought about this but read many stories of no joy; how did you go about it?

Well I've done 10 days without any form of gambling... I've been baking non stop, my house is gleaming and I've been on some lovely walks with my dogs. It's still there in the back of my mind. A constant niggle and I'm so glad I installed Gamban on my phone. My best friend has given me loads of maid of honour duties so that's a welcome distraction.  I've also saved £110 quid so far.  I'm feeling positive but also precarious.
