Hi everyone,

I suppose this is my first serious attempt at quitting gambling. I am 23 and searching for my first home so it really is time to kick the addiction. Fortunately, I've never suffered big losses, but on a weekly basis I would say I will often lose 25-40% of my weekly wage which will effect me massively when I have a flat to keep! Of course there are those weeks where I will perhaps have 20% more in my account than when I was paid the previous Friday but on the whole, we all know these are few and fair between.

I've tried several times in the past to quit and lasted a few weeks maximum but I've tried to do it alone as I'm ashamed of myself for letting the problem reach the heights that it has. But I guess this is my first really serious attempt to quit, as I am reaching out to you guys for support which I hope to return to you.

I enjoy it - like I'm sure we all do - but I also feel terrible when I think about the money which I have lost in steady doses. And in reality a gambler will never win because we don't know when to stop ... but such a rational thought seems impossible to comprehend.

I consider myself extremely lucky that although I am addicted, I don't find myself in debt, but it seems inevitable if I can't resolve the issue.

Thanks for taking the time to read.

Callum.
