I am 47, female and have just lost all my savings with on-line gambling. This was bound to happen as I've been doing this amount for months now but kept 'winning it back' at the last moment and then promising myself I wouldn't do this again.
Hi Bluebella33
Can't offer any advice as I'm a newbie myself but you've come to the right place to get help.

Well done Bluebella33 for coming to The Forum,
It's great that you've contacted GamCare for advice. You should have some info from them on how to proceed from here on in. Your savings have been wiped out and that's a body blow. Please do not take loans out to chase your losses. Put your finances in the hands of a trusted family member and build those savings back up over a period of time. I use the 2015 Challenge on here and it's helped me stay "clean" for nearly 100 days now. It's not been an easy ride at times and it's very much one day at a time. What I can say is the little money I have is mine now and it won't end up with the bookmakers. It's a good feeling. You can recover from this with some determination and the right professional help.
Best Wishes.
Thank you for the comments. Really helpful
Hi Bluebella
It sounds as though you have done all the right things so far. Take on board the advice you get from Gamcare. Treat the gambling with the respect it deserves.
By reading some of the threads on this forum you will gain a better understanding of just how destructive gambling can be. As MrStop has told you, don't try to chase your losses. That's one of the reasons that pushes CGs into massive debt. If you can accept that you will never get that money back, you will find it easier to abstain from gambling. I know it's easy to say but very hard to do. 🙂
Inform your husband of how serious this addiction is and where it can lead. The more he is aware, the better he will be able to keep an eye on you.
Best wishes

Thank you Gabriele. I feel awful today. Totally ashamed at losing so much money in such a stupid destructive way. Pointless. I've called the local trust recommended by your helpline colleague and am waiting an appointment to get some counselling. I will not chase my losses. I do feel I hit rock bottom yesterday and the fact I've told my husband was a first step.
Affected by gambling?
