I have been gambling for about 3 years now I just used to stick with football bet till I turned 18 last year and started doing it online losing all of my wages, but about 6 weeks ago was the worst I had 1300 in my account I deposited 100 lost that but I still had 1200 in my bank but no I needed to win that 100 back then about half n hour later it was all gone. Then I decide to get short term loans about 1500 but I lose all that then I finally tell my parents and they help me out so I paid of all my debts, then a week later I do it again I lost my wage and decide to get more loans and lose it so I have to tell my parents and they help me out again, I'm about 4,500 in debt and I had a few hundred in my account go onto the casino and win 2500 that comes into my bank then I just thought I'll have 100 quid but lost that in spins so I ended up losing it all. Then on Thursday just gone I said to my self in not going to bet again then Friday my wage goes in I'm determined not to bet but I can't go out cos I'm in debt then later on I end up losing all my wage. This need to stop and I'm determined it's going to be now.

Hi Jh20,

Welcome to the Forum!

You describe a downward spiral over the past 3 years with increasing the amount of money you gamble with, chasing losses and winnings alike and relying on others to help you financially. You say that you are determined to stop now. It is good that you have made a firm decision to make changes.

Maybe you´d like to think about asking someone to look after your money for a while in order to cut yourself off access to money to gamble with? You can also try and ensure that you make it more difficult to gamble when you feel an impulse to do so, by excluding yourself from the casino you use and other opportunities to gamble.

It might help you to talk about your options, about practical strategies which can help you make stopping easier and about other support which is available to you. Our Helpline is open from 8 am to midnight every day on 0808 80 20 133 and you can also reach us on the Netline (the internet based Helpline) here http://www.gamcare.org.uk/support-and-counselling/frontline-services/netline

And I hope that you will find this Forum helpful, too.

Kind wishes

Gabriele
