Hi all. Just reading through posts on forum. And its good to see that im not the only one with a problem. im in a bad place in my head right now, after losing 800 quid in twenty minutes after almost getting out of my overdraft. This amount in the scheme of things is nothing compared to the 50000 ive lost in last five years. more if i go back to when i started online gambling ten years ago. 3 loans, 3 credit cards, and thousands in debt. i just cant beat THAT URGE! That cold, dark, lonely feeling when after a 5-6+ hrs of playing slots, and the rollercoaster of being up a thousand only to be down to nothing...starburst...video poker...jack and the beanstalk...other random titled themed slots, free spins, the bonus...the eventual obliteration of funds, nearly always never withdrawing...deposit...deposit....deposit...NOTHING...Cold tired lonely empty feeling. What a waste, working hard for nothing. Battle on I guess. Wish you all the best in your fight with this burden.
Hi Timeline,
After reading your opening post (sorry if this sounds harsh) I get a feeling you are not really in a place where you want to stop gambling completely.
You say about being in a bad place after losing £800. Last year I had these feelings, but the next day I'd pick a bet or two that I was certain would win me back my £800, plus a few more gambling tokens to play with.
Quote "I just can't beat that urge". Again last year I couldn't, even though I was racking up thousands in debt. Like the gamblers dream, I thought my big pay day wasn't far away. So on I went, losing more and more. I didn't want to stop. To beat it you must want to stop and put up barriers to help fight against these urges.
"Battle on...." We can battle on being addicts or start on the bumpy road to recovery.

So where do you go from here?
Self exclude from all the online casinos or high street bookies you play the slots in. Share your need to stop gambling with a loved one or close friend. Try GA meetings especially if you have no-one to talk too.
Have you rang the GamCare support line?
Finally, if you've gambled for years you'll know in yourself if the time has come to face-up to this awful addiction.
Wishing you all the best please post a positive update soon.
